WATTLE be the lasting impact of more women in university senior leadership? UNE academics have attended a Melbourne leadership retreat tailored to women working in this sector, describing it as transformative, rewarding and hopeful. Associate Professors Sarah Wayland, Clara Murray, Susie Hester, Erica Smith and Jennifer McDonell, along with Professor Birgit Loch, were among colleagues from 16 other Australian universities at the WATTLE (Women ATTaining LEadership) event. I am sorry to have to make this comment but as a concerned father of two teenagers and a UNE alumni I feel that I need to weigh in on this issue. Conferences like this are the reason many parents are losing faith in UNE. "Feeling heard" and being "inclusive" are not just buzzwords they are attempts to move the goalposts away from rigorous academic standards and noted publications in favor of less qualified applicants. This will not end well, as we have seen in the USA.
Good to see UNE supporting this important program.
Excellent program
Nice to see women of UNE participating in the program, well done!
