We know! We know that, being a Career Mom, juggling work commitments and effecting quality family time can be a hassle. But we also know that connecting with your children is essential for their well-being and your own fulfillment. So let's help you bridge this hassle and effect quality change using these four strategies to help you maintain a strong bond with your kids despite your busy schedule. 1. Prioritize quality over quantity when spending time with your children. Even if it's just for a short period, make it meaningful by engaging in activities they enjoy or simply having heartfelt conversations. 2. In today's digital age, leverage technology to stay connected with your children throughout the day. Send them encouraging messages, share photos or videos, or even schedule virtual playdates during your breaks. If your child is still in his/her infancy, send pictures or videos to his/her nanny to play it for them. 3. Create special rituals or routines that you and your children can look forward to, such as a weekly movie night, cooking together on weekends, or bedtime stories every night. These rituals strengthen your bond and provide cherished memories. And the essential bit... 4. Create and encourage an environment of open communication where your children feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings with you. Make time to listen attentively without distractions, whether it's during meal times or before bedtime. It's possible to nurture a strong connection with your children while effectively manning your Job. Implemen these four steps, and you'll be thankful you did? My model of #4QuarterLives is spreading. Everywhere I share this concept, as I did this week at a LinkedIn #TalentConnect Conference, heads nod. It resonates with people of all ages. The challenge ahead? 👉 Companies are designed for Q2. In fact, everything is. We need to redesign for an entirely new phase of life: healthy and engaged 3rd Quarters. It's new, it's powerful and it's waiting to get noticed. 👉 Individuals aren't preparing early enough for Q3. We all need to lean into this new phase of life if we want to enjoy its full potential. First we need to name it, then we need to learn to navigate it. Are you ready?

I help Mid-Career Professionals Feeling Stuck, Go Up The Ladder with speed, ease & joy🔰3xTEDx Speaker🔰LinkedinTopVoice🔰 Multi-awardee Game Changer Career Coach🔰Forbes,Outlook,FOX🔰BestSellingAuthor🔰Proud Mum & Wife
Children drifting away as they grow up- a reality for most mid-career professionals! While the topic stays hot amongst parents feeling the pinch of their detachment, let’s delve deeper into the life of our kids. Thoughtfully dividing their network into friends,, like-minded individuals, acquaintances, people to care for and people to keep away from, our next generation has a place for everyone around them. They know how to have real life conversations with their close circle; while also making a habit to peep out at times to learn new things. However most adults see this younger generation as disillusioned, detached, entitled. We see them wasting money. We see them choosing the wrong degree. And when they see this judgement in our eyes, they feel misunderstood and start drifting away…. It’s time to stop our constant cribbing, catching mistakes and bombarding them with our tales of “wisdom.” Their life is not like ours! They are digital natives who have grown up in a world bigger, noisy and more complex than ours - and they are figuring out the navigation! They are playing in a very different playground- the equipment, the mechanics, the strategy, the tactics, the rules are very different. Let’s enable them to build muscles for THEIR game. Let’s go easy on them. Lets give them love, understanding and support. Let’s applaud them for what they are doing right, And the rest will fall in place! Because if we do not give them the space to flourish at home, who else will? #shilpamurderingmediocrity #diversity #leadership

For our career moms, we understand how challenging balancing a career with motherhood can be. So we thought to share four strategic ways you can maintain strong connections with your children despite your busy schedules. These are; 1. Quality Over Quantity Focus on making the most of the time you have with your children by engaging in activities that foster bonding and create meaningful memories. This could include bedtime rituals like reading stories and talking about the day, having at least one meal together daily to share experiences, and planning special family outings on weekends to enhance the quality of your time together. 2. Effective Time Management Optimize your schedule to ensure dedicated time for your children by prioritizing tasks using planners or digital tools, delegating household chores to family members or outsourcing them, and negotiating flexible work arrangements to be more present at home. This helps balance professional and personal responsibilities more effectively. 3. Stay Connected During the Day Maintain a connection with your children even when apart by scheduling regular check-ins through phone calls or video chats, leaving thoughtful notes around the house or in lunch boxes, and using shared calendars to stay updated on each other’s schedules, facilitating better planning for family time. 4. Involve Your Children in Your Work Life Incorporate elements of your professional life into family interactions by sharing interesting aspects of your workday, occasionally bringing your children to your workplace to meet colleagues and see where you work, and engaging them in related projects in a child-friendly way. This helps them understand and appreciate your work while strengthening your bond. Focusing on quality interactions, managing your time effectively, staying connected throughout the day, and involving your children in your work life, can strengthen your bond with your children even with a busy career. Ready to take your career to new heights? Join EMERGE Cohort 9 today and embark on a transformative journey with our 31-day Accelerator Program, starting on June 6th. I have been struggling this week. New Year’s resolutions are not my thing. I generally do not feel more or less hopeful when a new year begins. My autistic brain thrives on structure and the best way I know how to reach my goals is to stick to my routines. This week, like every other, I have woken up at the same time, drinking my same coffee, and getting ready in the exact same way. I didn't make any grandiose 2024 plans. I didn't feel a renewed sense of purpose or ambition. I was just me. The same me I was last week. After struggling all week, I finally realized that I didn't have to be anything else. Because "just me" is what makes me great at what I do. "Just me" allows me to talk about difficult topics and create workplaces where we all can thrive. And more than that, "just me" is all that I have. Me, with all my routines and structure. So, if you also need this reminder: Don't put pressure on yourself to be something you’re not. Achieving your goals might rely on you continuing to be exactly who you are, as you are. No matter what changes you make or don't make in this new year, you are still worthy. Still capable of success. Still valuable. Still filled with all of the qualities that make you excellent at what you do. And we need you, just as you are. This week, next week, and every week after that. #ActuallyAutistic #Inclusion #Trans

Hello 2024. The end of 2022 and 2023 brought a lot of change in my life. Lost a loved one. Gained a loved one. Maternity leave with number 2. House sale, House move. House build. During the middle of 2023 I completed the brilliant UPFRONT BOND 7 with Lauren Currie OBE and met many inspirational women. I learned about the importance of making myself, my work, my accomplishments and my value visible. I also gained an understanding of anti-racism, intersectionality, whiteness and privilege. The role we play in perpetuating inequality and what we can contribute to its removal has never been more critical in our communications and actions. Thanks to this UPFRONT experience 2023 was also the year I unlearned. From the moment I started working as a design professional over 20 years ago, my focus was always on learning something new – new typefaces, new finishes, new techniques, new technology, new platforms, new mediums – the list is endless for a creative person and it is exciting. And indeed, upskilling and continuous professional development is an integral part of Red Dog Creative Agency, it makes us who we are as a team and helps to keep us ahead of the curve in a fast-moving world. Unlearning, on the other hand, is not about studying something new that we didn’t know previously, but rather focussing on letting go of old habits, unconscious biases, beliefs, and ideas that no longer serve us. By taking time to reflect, observe and unlearn we liberate ourselves, and this allows more confidence and clarity of thought to rise to the top. I believe that unlearning broadens the mind and enhances your EQ and IQ. This in turn helps to distil inspiration and insights into exceptional concepts that deliver on brief for our clients. I’m back to work this week after over a year away from the studio, with a renewed sense of energy and purpose. This week also marks 20 years since I started at Red Dog Creative Agency – where have two decades gone? A fellow BOND 7er Hema Bakhshi wrote a Linkedin post challenging the narrative of “Going back” to work after parental leave and suggested that it should be referred to as “Moving forward” in work, and this resonates with me. Becoming a parent is transformative and a lot has changed. You can never go back. I’m open, curious and confident for the here, the now and the future. #designleadership #designcommunity #growth #visibility #motherhood #learning #unlearning #communication #movingforward

How many summers do you have left on this earth? 🤔 The average life expectancy is roughly 79 years old. I'm 46. That means I have 33 summers left on this planet to live my best life. (Though I plan to live much longer.) Here are a few things to keep in mind on this daily journey: 🙏🏾 Start each day with prayer and meditation. That looks different for each of us, and that's okay. A recent study finds that people who regularly attend religious services live approximately four years longer than average. It's essential to focus on your spiritual health no matter what faith you follow. 🏃🏾♀️🏋🏾♀️🚴🏼♂️🏊♂️Keep moving. The CDC states that physical activity improves your brain health, helps manage weight, reduces the risk of disease, strengthens bones and muscles, and improves your ability to do everyday activities. Which, in most cases, leads to a longer life. 📚🏫 Keep learning. A multi-institution study led by the Yale School of Medicine and the University of Alabama-Birmingham found that improving equity in access to and quality of education is something tangible that can help reverse the troubling trend in the reduction of life expectancy among middle-aged adults. The study showed that each educational step led to 1.37 fewer years of lost life expectancy. And finally, 👨👨👦👦👫👨🏻🤝👨🏾👨🏻🤝👨🏾NOTHING is more important than spending time with those that you cherish the most. Research shows that people who are married or involved in healthy social relationships typically live longer. Ask yourself, are you in a career that allows you the flexibility to prioritize yourself and your loved ones? If not, what are you going to do about it? Live long and prosper 🖖🏾, my friends. I pray you find a way to make the necessary changes to help you seize every summer you have left.
