Complex problems often require creative solutions. Teams from HMRC's Chief Digital Information Office (CDIO) Data Science and Risk Intelligence Service brought their innovative thinking to the fore when asked to establish the levels of unknown fraud in HMRC’s Self Assessment and VAT systems. This led to their ground-breaking work on the Self Assessment Repayment Incident (SARI) Data Studio where they used pioneering Data Science techniques to find a solution.
