This afternoon, the Prime Minister Keir Starmer, issued his first message to the Civil Service, sharing his vision for a mission-driven government with a real sense of purpose. He said "Delivering change won’t be easy, you don’t need me to tell you that. It will require a different way of working. One of openness, of collaboration and transparency in everything we do. But from the get go I want you to know that– you have my confidence, my support and, importantly, my respect. Together, as one team, we can deliver our mission of national renewal and change. Let’s start that work immediately."

Streamline the whole of government if you want it to be effective. We have 109 counties but 650 MPs why do we need 6 MPs per county in the 21st century when we have never had better transport and communication? We have departments with 7 layers of management, they need to be a max 4 its impossible to be effective with more that that. Get rid of DEI and promote people on the basis of merit and ability so we are led by teams who know how to get the right results. Make sure no one in Civil Service Management doesn't have a formal management qualification. Stop pretending that that spending millions of man hours to perform tasks manually is acceptable and instead spend money to get better IT based solutions. Prioritise output NOT attendance; results NOT policy; culture NOT optics.
The way forward is to take action against corrupt leaderships. management roles are simple, ensure your staff are equipped to perform the tasks, ensure your staff are ok with wellbeing and that they have a safe work environment. If a manager/ Leader is not capable to implement these basics then they should be instructed to step down from that role. Too many times, poor managers/leaders are transferred to another team. This is not resolving an issue.
Eradicating child poverty should be biggest priority for the UK government. This shared mission will bring together all political parties. I would like to thank Scottish Government for including eradicating child poverty as a key priority. https://www.gov.scot/news/first-minister-welcomes-prime-minister-to-bute-house/ I am looking forward to see what steps the Scottish Government and UK Government will take for eradicating child poverty. This article 'You can hear your stomach growling': Kids call on next government to do more to end child poverty published in Big Issue on 10 June 2024 highlights the issue of poverty that is impacting millions of children across the UK. Details at https://www.bigissue.com/news/social-justice/child-poverty-pupil-premium-general-election-childhood-trust/ I have written an open letter requesting UK Government to urgently take steps to provide Free School Meals to all students in all UK schools Details at https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/geoforall/2024-June/006497.html I request the kind support of all UK Political parties and UK Government to help make possible Free School Meals to all students in all UK schools. I am grateful to everyone working for education opportunities for all.

Mr. New prime Minister I need a job in the government as a civil servant. How can you address this kind of situation.
As long as you remember it's your duty to deliver whether you agree or not. There seems to have been too much activism in the civil service of late.
Unfortunately i don't think anything will change we will still be forgotten about. I hope I'm wrong but i cant see it.

3moHow about giving the public purse more money and revising the pay grades for civil servants who have been "underpaid and overworked" for "decades" as staff are leaving in droves and the ones left are buried in compliance and bureaucracy.
