The value of a professional is not the certificates but the value of work they deliver. Certificates are good but they are not the end of it. There is a tendency for people to feel entitled to a "bid remuneration" when in fact the value of their work does not deliver the bottom line needed. #professionaldevelopment #professionalgrowth #profesional Let the value of your work be followed by the dollars

Apparently, this needs to be said. If you have a contract with a business partner containing a defined fee schedule, you do not have license to charge your client surprise additional fees because you lack the foresight to clearly define in-scope and out-of-scope work. This applies even (and especially) if you have leverage over their business practices. It's grossly unethical. I mean, sure, you can watch the additional revenue roll in and congratulate each other at cocktail parties that you spent thousands of dollars on an education that amounts to adding two spreadsheet cells together. But as a practice, it's debilitating short-term-ism that will ultimately cost you clients and revenue. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.

Co-founder & CEO of Reignite Academy, Careers Expert for Noon, LinkedIn Top Voice, Author, Expert on women's careers
How long will it take me to get back up to speed? What if I'm too slow? Has the technology changed? What if I'm no good? Who do I report into? How will I be measured? What if there's a problem at home? Can I really do this? Am I mad to think I can go back after 5/10 years out? Etc etc etc All the thoughts and fears that women and men experience when returning to work after a long(ish) career break. SLOW DOWN. It's just like driving a car. Albeit with new technology, in a strange country and possibly on the other side of the road. Get a co-pilot, organise a test drive, pick a safe route, ensure your dashboard works and you'll be fine. Top tips here based on our work at Reignite Academy helping lawyers return. https://lnkd.in/ecXb9UiW
