LatConnect 60 Ltd's SWIRSAT mission will deliver high resolution SWIR data which is at least 5 times better resolution than the market, leading to more accurate and effective methane and other emissions measurements, initially in the oil and gas sector. This satellite mission funded by the Australian Space Agency via the International Space Investment (ISI) India Program of almost $5.8 Million will be the first of a larger constellation concept of mid-inclined Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites with LatConnect 60’s proprietary SWIR sensors and advanced technology to enable regular and near real-time measurement and onboard calibration of data. This mission is an essential step not only in the delivery of the LatConnect 60 constellation concept, but also enabling LatConnect 60 to work more closely with the Australian Space Agency, as well as its Australian and Indian partners, leveraging India’s Space Ecosystem, in the creation and use of significant technology and skills in Australia for all of the above purposes. Our key partnership with our launch partner in India, Skyroot Aerospace, will open up greater visibility for the SWIRSAT mission and its benefits across Australia and India, and enable government and commercial end users to have access to the leading datasets from SWIRSAT to enhance the agriculture and resources sectors across both countries. We would like to thank the Australian Space Agency and all our key partners on this project. Skyroot Aerospace Gilmour Space Technologies Spiral Blue Stay tuned for more updates in due course! Today three projects have been awarded a total of AU$18 million under the Australian Space Agency’s International Space Investment India Project program. This investment will strengthen our already enduring strategic partnership with India, while also addressing combined challenges such as climate change. Each of the following successful collaborative projects is a prime example of how we can boost Australia and India’s commercial space relationship by aligning on agreed areas of strategic importance. ⚫ LatConnect 60 Ltd (WA) has been awarded almost $5.8 million to develop and build a Low Earth Orbit satellite in Australia to collect information on carbon emissions at a very high resolution. ⚫ Space Machines Company (NSW) has been awarded more than $8.5 million for Space MAITRI (Mission for Australia-India’s Technology, Research and Innovation) - demonstrating advanced concepts such as on-orbit transportation and space debris mitigation. ⚫ Skykraft (ACT) has been awarded $3.7 million to propose and validate a new Position, Navigation and Timing system. This program demonstrates the role space – and science and innovation more broadly – can play in enhancing cooperation in our region for mutual benefit. Sierra Space, valued at $5.3 billion, eyes IPO to 'accelerate the new space economy' Sierra Space, one of the space industry’s most valuable private companies, plans to go public within the next 18 months, according to its CEO. Valued at $5.3 billion in its most recent funding round, the Colorado-based company was spun out of defense contractor Sierra Nevada Corporation in 2021. Since then, the firm has placed its bets on building out the growing space economy, from developing rocket propulsion technology to a commercial space station with Blue Origin. The space economy is forecast to reach $1.8 trillion by 2035, according to a new report published by the World Economic Forum. Much of that growth is expected to be built on communications satellites and launch vehicles, but space is expected to take an increasingly important role in other industries as well, including biotech, consumer goods, and supply chain and transportation. Sarah Verwei and Josef Aschbacher are involved in "Revolution Space," a strategic initiative aimed at transforming Europe's role in space exploration. Their work emphasizes the urgent need for Europe to enhance its ambitions and capabilities in both human and robotic space exploration to maintain geopolitical influence and achieve economic growth. The initiative outlines the importance of increased public and private investments, the establishment of an independent European presence in space, and fostering public-private partnerships [oai_citation:1,Report: Revolution Space – Europe’s Mission for Space Exploration (ESA HLAG 2023) | New Space Economy](https://lnkd.in/eXgBauHD) [oai_citation:2,ESA - ESA to embolden Europe's space exploration](https://lnkd.in/eP4G3PUa). The "Revolution Space" report by the European Space Agency's High-Level Advisory Group, of which Aschbacher is a key figure, argues that Europe must act decisively to avoid falling behind other global powers in space. It suggests concrete actions to capture a significant portion of the projected trillion-euro space economy by 2040, thus securing Europe's strategic interests and inspiring future generations [oai_citation:3,Revolution Space: Report - European Space Sciences Committee](https://lnkd.in/eJnXJZDn). Their efforts are part of a broader vision to make Europe a transformative player in the space sector, emphasizing the need for a bold narrative and ambitious goals to catalyze innovation and growth. This initiative is seen as crucial for Europe to avoid dependency on non-European companies for astronaut access and to leverage space exploration as a means of sustaining and enhancing its global influence [oai_citation:4,ESA - ESA to embolden Europe's space exploration](https://lnkd.in/eP4G3PUa).
