Big thank you to all those who attended and the PSP National Training Center for the opportunity to share some of the strategies I’ve employed over the last few years at CFB Edmonton. If I may make recommendations for future presenters: 1. Lead with a relatable story. Unlike statistics, people naturally lean into stories told with curiosity as it appeals to both the logic and emotional centers of our brain. This preps a posture of listening and creates a visual to relate back for continuity of the conversation. 2. Have a clear start, middle and end. Presentations that are filled with information without any directions often leave the room overwhelmed and discouraged as to what to do with the information they received. 3. Have 1-3 actionable steps. Clear the path for those in the audience by providing tangible applications of the information they just received.
