We are committed to sustainability! 🌎🌱 At Gerson & Grey, we are proud to share that we are making significant strides in our ESG practices. We firmly believe in making a difference in the world, and we are excited to announce yet another initiative that showcases our commitment to a more sustainable future. Today, we celebrate the signing of the contract for the construction of our own photovoltaic plant! This plant will be a vital source of clean, renewable energy for our operation, significantly reducing our carbon footprint. We anticipate the plant's completion within 6 months, and it will be capable of generating an impressive 40 MWh of energy per year! But what does this mean in terms of sustainability? Well, in addition to contributing to the reduction of our reliance on non-renewable energy sources, this initiative will result in an estimated reduction of 19 tons of CO2 per year. This translates to a total savings of 475 tons of CO2 over 25 years! To put it into perspective, each ton of CO2 saved is equivalent to 2.10 MWh of energy saved, demonstrating the positive and lasting impact we are making on the environment. We are excited to share these advancements with our community and partners, and we are committed to continuing to lead by example in sustainable practices. In 2023, we took major steps toward reducing our environmental footprint and enhancing sustainability. In these highlights, we look at our environmental achievements and the innovative strategies that made them possible. From our proactive efforts to reduce absolute emissions to actively increasing our adoption of renewable energy as we expand our business, we are on our way to reaching carbon-neutral data centre operations by 2030. Decarbonisation continues to be a key priority as we strive to meet future demands through efficient resource management. We are also strengthening our water stewardship and leveraging technology to enhance our energy efficiency. In a pilot trial, we test bedded an AI-powered solution to optimise cooling systems in selected data centres, resulting in a 10-30% reduction in energy consumption.
