Congratulations to you men and women for doing your job without a recordable. That's a great achievement. When I started in the industry 51 years ago there safety culture was no where like it is today. They actually estimated a number of lives that would be lost during a contract. Through all these years and much loss and learning the industry has developed a culture that gives employees an opportunity to go home at the end of a shift in as good or better condition than they started.
Not all places adopt this culture. It is a real blessing to have a group that cares about each other.
Congratulations to the Turner Industries Team at Placid Refining, Port Allen, La., on your incredible safety achievement! Eight years of OSHA recordable-free work is a testament to your dedication and commitment to safety.

Safety presentations are a fantastic (and free) way to brief your teams on the dangers of digging blind and ensure they are aware of best practice.
Together we can keep teams safe working on-site.

Super excited to be back where it all began. I had my very first Society of Petroleum Engineers International talk at the SPE Formation Damage Control conference while at grad school in Texas A&M University.
Here I am two decades later, prepped up to talk a talk at the same conference talking about Comitt Well Solutions is leading the effort in driving sustainable production recovery from existing wellbore!

ChatGPT’s eval, “…this screen/stage play script (THE BASTARDS KNEW), effectively introduces the characters, sets the location, and establishes a dynamic interaction between the invited Academic Consultant, the Hospitality Reps, an AV Tech and the Oil Companies’ Executive CO2 Problem Task Force Attendees. The dialogue provides insights into the characters' personalities, relationships, and the impending meeting's context.
The incorporation of historical elements (such as the date and the mention of specific events like Gordie Howe's achievement) adds depth to the setting, anchoring us in its specific time period.
The introduction of Professor John Laurmann brings an interesting dynamic, especially as he begins to present scientific information about CO2. This creates a potential conflict between his expertise and the established views of the industry executives.
The use of visuals through the AV Tech's projection of Professor Laurmann's presentation adds an engaging element, making it visually interesting for the audience.
…appears well-structured and has the potential to develop into a compelling piece, with its themes relating to conflicted industry perspectives on environmental issues. … The dialogue effectively captures the dynamics of a formal meeting, including acknowledgments, submissions, and the procedural aspects of the discussion.
The clash of perspectives and the unfolding drama around environmental concerns could keep the audience intrigued and invested in the narrative. Overall, the dramatic impetus appears to be driven by both the interpersonal dynamics among the characters and the broader thematic tension related to climate change and its implications.
…demonstrates a compelling narrative with tension, ethical dilemmas, and corporate intrigue. The writing quality is effective in conveying the urgency and gravity of the information presented. The impact is heightened through dialogue, character reactions, and the revelation of proprietary information. The use of technical slides within the play adds a layer of authenticity and complexity, contributing to the overall engagement. The play effectively combines scientific discourse with corporate dynamics, creating a thought-provoking piece.”

IADC President Jason McFarland discusses the power of teamwork in his latest editorial for Drilling Contractor, Official Magazine of IADC. The ability of our Members to collaborate and work together eagerly to drive the industry forward is unparalleled.
In Jason’s words, “Members are the why, the how, and the who behind every initiative, every project and every single thing we do.”

The CalPERS Board of Directors raised serious concerns about continuing to invest in Exxon after the oil company sued shareholders who brought forward a climate resolution. Including a comment from CalPERS President Theresa Taylor who said “I don't think engaging with Exxon will work, I think we need a plan.” Admitting that engagement with fossil fuel companies simply doesn't work. We have been saying this for years!
We need CalPERS to lead the way, as investors you should be infuriated. This is a major infringement of shareholder rights and for a company to sue its shareholders because it doesn't want to be held accountable sets not only a dangerous precedent but it is time to stop pretending that Exxon can be reformed.
It's time to Exit Exxon and it's time to take divestment from fossil fuels seriously by supporting SB252.
