The CalPERS Board of Directors raised serious concerns about continuing to invest in Exxon after the oil company sued shareholders who brought forward a climate resolution. Including a comment from CalPERS President Theresa Taylor who said “I don't think engaging with Exxon will work, I think we need a plan.” Admitting that engagement with fossil fuel companies simply doesn't work. We have been saying this for years! We need CalPERS to lead the way, as investors you should be infuriated. This is a major infringement of shareholder rights and for a company to sue its shareholders because it doesn't want to be held accountable sets not only a dangerous precedent but it is time to stop pretending that Exxon can be reformed.
