The new centre aims to provide students, engineers and the wider audience with a historical awareness of the role that technology and engineers played in societal transitions in the past two centuries, as well as to develop working methods that makes such knowledge actionable today. The 4TU.History of Technology centre will stimulate and facilitate research, education and public debate on the role of technology in societal transitions then and now. 'A better understanding of the history of technology helps us to broaden our view and enables us to gain more nuanced insights on the connections between technological, social and environmental change. How can we use such insights to make ongoing transitions more inclusive and more sustainable?' says scientific director Erik van der Vleuten. On behalf of the University of Twente, Dr Andreas Weber, Prof Fokko Jan Dijksterhuis and Prof Esther Turnhout are shaping the 4TU.History of Technology centre. ℹ More info on the website of 4TU https://lnkd.in/e6_sVUKb 𝐓𝐡𝐞 4TU.Federation, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞.

Sustainability, artificial intelligence or product and process engineering – the aim of our doctoral program is to support young researchers in important future topics. Recently around 20 of them exchanged ideas at a marketplace event and I gladly took the opportunity to stop by. My conclusion: If we as an industrial company support them with our technological environment and our research network, everyone benefits: the young researchers because they can access important resources, German industry because applied research often results in very concrete added value and ultimately, of course, TRUMPF as a company because we can also learn from such important research results. Thank you very much for this and for the fascinating insights! #Science #Innovation #Research #IndustrialPromotion
