This is no solution , only maritine and air-border have no value, this is not a real membership of Schengen..... Truck-drivers and people who stay hours or days at the border will understand. Delay of days for transports from Eastern to Western Europe in inhuman and a loss of a lot of money for a lot of companies . Being only member for air and maritime transport , means nothing and is a poisoned present...when will Romania enter fully in Schengen ??.. in 10 years? This not only concerns Romania, but this is also a transit-country for all tragic comming from Turqui and Greece... Stop this stupid political game.
Congratulations to the people of Romania and Bulgaria for joining the Schengen area with the lifting of maritime and air border controls. It was a long time coming. It makes our Union stronger and our people safer. Europe unites. 🇪🇺🇹🇩🇧🇬

In an unprecedented incident escalating tensions between Taiwan and China, King Xia, a Taiwanese tourist boat carrying 23 passengers, was intercepted near Taiwan's outlying Kinmen Islands by two Chinese coast guard vessels. The encounter, characterized by a "forced" inspection lasting about thirty minutes, involved six Chinese officers boarding the vessel to scrutinize its route plan, certificates, and crew licenses. Taiwanese authorities reported that King Xia had unintentionally strayed towards Chinese waters to avoid shoals. #Iontrendz #TaiwanChinaTensions #CoastGuardEncounter #KinmenIslands #CrossStraitRelations #MaritimeSecurity #GrayZoneTactics #TaiwaneseSovereignty #EastAsiaGeopolitics #TourismSafety #PoliticalTensions #Taiwan #China #coastguard #news #internationlnews

🇨🇳🇵🇭 Amid Manila’s ‘aerial provocations’, Beijing-based think tank advises caution The skies above the South China Sea have become a new front for potential conflict as the Philippines ramps up air patrols and airdrops near reefs also claimed by China, a Chinese think tank has warned. The South China Sea Strategic Situation Probing Initiative also urged heightened vigilance in response to the “aerial provocations”, as it issued the note of caution on social media. “As China strengthens its maritime control, the Philippines has exhausted its tactics and means of maritime infringement. Air incursions are becoming another major front for the Philippines to stir up trouble in the South China Sea,” the Beijing-based think tank said “Should the Philippines continue its air intrusions, China will be forced to take corresponding measures. Friction or even collisions in the air could have consequences more severe than ship collisions.” #China #ThePhilippines

But Japan can defend itself better than can the Philippines. It has a strong Coast Guard and navy, though Chinese ship numbers now outmatch the Japanese by far. And the numbers gap is expanding. Also, the newer China Coast Guard boats are as big as destroyers and built for fighting. Japan Coast Guard ships are not. But Japan can also use its foreign investment in China as a weapon. Cutting off Japanese investment, business activity and technology exports to China would harm the PRC. The Philippines has no similar leverage. Thus one understands the relatively less aggressive Chinese approach (for now) around the Senkakus. That is, compared to what it's doing in Philippine waters ー even if the end objectives are the same. Beijing is not going to give up unless presented with a solid, unyielding Japanese and American defense. There is no deal to be cut.
The PRC intends to do to Japan at the Senkakus what it is doing to the Philippines at Second Thomas Shoal and elsewhere. There's still time to stop Chinese aggression, but not much. https://lnkd.in/gBQ5sdda

There is one very important additional action that the US could take beyond what Grant noted in his excellent article, that is very rarely mentioned. It's of utmost importance to return the US formal policy on the sovereignty of the Senkakus to what it had been from 1945 until Nixon and Kissinger muddied things up in 1972 to appease Chairman Mao. "Every U.S. administration from Truman to Kennedy recognized Japanese residual sovereignty over the Senkaku Islands. U.S. policy changed, however, to one of neutrality under the Nixon administration during the negotiations of the Okinawa Reversion Treaty." "Since 1972, the U.S. has recognized Japan’s administrative control over the Senkakus but has not taken a position on the competing sovereignty claims." Does anyone think that uncertainty is not something that CCP leverages? https://lnkd.in/gBrs23GY

Philippine ship ramed by China's coast guard (CCG) on video - who seem slightly adrift of what is China's coast by some margin. There were a lot of CCG vessels in the images What is interesting is how China is by defacto, and by unsafe unprofessional manouevres; against international law and rulings forcing its wishes in the South China Sea. This is why Freedom of Navigation is fundemental to the free movement of commerce in the supply of goods, foods and services. If you want to know how someone will behave when they have something look to how they behave in getting it.

🌏 As tensions persist over Taiwan and strategies are calculated to avoid escalating into a catastrophic war, China is exploring alternatives to increase its control over the island. 📜 This article reveals new Chinese strategies to pressure Taiwan while avoiding direct conflict with the U.S. and their allies. An impressive geopolitical maneuver that could give China leverage in the region in a non-traditional way. Historically, blockades are well-known, but in this situation, cutting off the island from the outside world goes beyond mere economic pressure. What do you think? #Geopolitics #China #Taiwan #InternationalRelations #Strategy
As China ramps up pressure on Taiwan, one major step it could take is a law enforcement-led quarantine of the island. A new report from the CSIS China Power Project lays out China’s potential motivations for a quarantine and maps out two plausible scenarios of how it could conduct quarantine operations.
