This is more of a question for the new parents out here. Are you guys also trying to juggle a full-time business, and a tiny human learning to walk (and yell at the top of their lungs)? At times like this, I realise how much of a blessing working from home is. I mean, when I think about it I wouldn't trade witnessing my daughter's first steps (or her first attempts at climbing the bookshelf) for anything. However, most companies still feel like WFH affects productivity. But here's the silver lining: My team spans 7+ countries, working from home, which means we all get a bit more family time. Does it affect productivity? Nope. Do we overwork? Not at all. The secret? Finding that perfect balance between work hours and logging off when it's time. One thing I have been using to make the process even smoother is being a part of virtual workspaces to be a little more connected to my team and not gonna lie these platforms are lifesavers. Seamless communication tools and the chef’s kiss are those digital whiteboards. I mean, who doesn’t like whiteboards? It's not always easy, but the flexibility is worth it! Apparently, our American pals are celebrating National Work From Home Day tomorrow. (Seriously, who comes up with all of these days?!) Which has encouraged us to think about our own versions of WFH and why they work for us. So here’s why WFH is mostly perfect for the CleverVA team’s neurodivergent brains. Fiona, our designer, needs zero distractions (AKA office chat) to get into hyperfocus. She’s never more productive than when ensconced in her home office, alone! She also loves that she doesn’t have to mask. There’s no pressure to make small talk and she doesn’t have to worry about the silly faces she makes when thinking or how she talks aloud to herself when she’s really focused! Our content writer, Clare is the opposite — she struggles with being ‘chained to a desk’ all day and loves that she can grab her laptop and work from the sofa, the garden, her bed. A wee change of scene is exactly what she needs to work at her best. Oh, and she loves that WFH means she can spend all day hanging out with her (emotional support!) dog too. And me? I love that WFH gives me the flexibility to manage my disabilities. For example, I’ll often dedicate my lunch hour to a quick bite followed by a restorative nap. I’ve found that’s the best way to manage my energy levels and have a productive afternoon. And I definitely couldn’t do that if I wasn’t WFH! What about you? Hey folks, Since the beginning of the #COVID-19 pandemic, we have all witnessed the miracle of how #workingfromhome 🏡 has emerged from its slumber and become a savior in times of need. But before we get carried away with euphoria and shower everyone with the joys of #homeoffice, let's take a #criticallook at this supposed #utopia. Of course, who needs #socialinteraction anyway? 🤷♂️ It's much more pleasant to spend the whole day within the four walls, surrounded by a refrigerator and a pet 🍔. Who needs those annoying colleagues, with their constant coffee breaks and unnecessary small talk? Loneliness is so much more fulfilling, after all. And let's not forget the joy of blending work and personal life😅. What could be better than being #reachable around the clock and never really being able to switch off 💻? #Burnout? Oh, that's just a myth! But wait a minute, what about the technical #equipment? Who needs a functioning computer or a stable internet connection when you can work with a crashed laptop and shaky Wi-Fi📶? After all, it's all about the thrill of battling technology 🤓. And #equality 🤦♀️👨💼? Oh, just a minor detail. Of course, everyone has the same opportunities to work from home. It doesn't matter whether you have a spacious workspace or have to share the dining table with the kids. Equal rights for all! But let's put the fun aside for a moment🤔, it is worth noting that remote work can still be useful after Corona, but only under certain conditions. It requires careful consideration of the pros and cons, as well as appropriate measures to address the challenges. A flexible work culture that supports both remote and in-person work could be the right approach to harness the benefits of remote work while minimizing its risks. Ultimately, however, everyone must #decide #individually 📊 which work model best suits their needs and those of their employees.

Working from home will ruin your career WFH has its advantages, but the negatives outweigh them. It will change the way you work forever. The end of your career is inevitable. - You’ll have to learn to trust people since you can’t see them working. Nope—trust is earned with eyeballs. - You'll have to figure out ways to make an impact at the workplace other than just being visible. That sounds like more work. - You'll have to learn to connect and interact with people without a water cooler to attract them to you. There goes my number one play. - You'll have to learn effective communication to work as a team instead of relying on proximity to generate enthusiasm and ideas. People just ooze enthusiasm by being near each other. - You’ll have to get used to not wearing headphones to drown out office noise. I paid a lot of money for these noise-cancelling headphones. - You'll have to learn to deal with solitude at home instead of isolation in a row of desks with everyone avoiding eye contact. Not for this social butterfly. - You’ll have to learn to cook and eat healthy food instead of simply being able to get some fast food for lunch. Yuck! - You'll have to stop taking your children to childcare. Hey, children need a break from their parents, too. - You’ll have to figure out what to do with all the extra time you save from commuting, like working out or spending time with your family. But the car is the only place I have time to listen to podcasts. - You’ll have to find mentors who have the skills to set examples without you constantly watching them. I can't just trust what they say, I have to see them doing it. - You’ll have to learn to write well instead of just walking up to people in the middle of typing. I only need a minute of their time. This is literally the worst thing that can happen to anyone. You will deeply regret learning these skills. What other horrible WFH problems did I forget to list? 👀 Here are 3 things I can watch forever: Fire burning Water falling And people debating office VS remote work I’m not here to break new ground with revolutionary ideas—just sharing my reflections. From what I’ve observed, millennials tend to be more attached to office work, while zoomers seem less concerned about where they work. They’re focused on finding a job that would unfold their potential, regardless of location. They don’t care much about having any coffee breaks with colleagues, as they don’t stick to old-school frameworks. 👌 And that’s okay Although I admit it can be a challenge to attract people to events when they’re used to their comfy couches at home, whether they’re in their 20s or 40s. 👌 And that’s totally okay Personally, the office helps me draw a clear line between work and personal life. Picking outfits and getting into work mode helps me shift away from the pajama routine. Once my job is done, I close my laptop and leave it on my office desk. No temptation to sneak a peek or check on something. There’d be a new tomorrow and a new start. 👌 And that’s okay too #remote #officelife #reflections

I'm sure many of us have experienced the challenges of working from home. One moment, we're in the zone, and the next, we find ourselves scrolling through social media or washing dishes instead of tackling our to-do list.  But I've found that implementing a few simple changes can make a big difference in minimizing distractions and maximizing productivity: • 𝐃𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞: Having a designated area for work helps separate it from the rest of your home.
