Seems to me the construction industry, and all its potential tributaries, should be quite busy in the coming year if every project I see, whether active or potential. evolves. I walk the city daily, and I see so many sites where it is obvious there is bundling going on that will develop into projects large and small, or large swaths of razed areas that are actively being recreated. I hope some of this will become affordable housing. Much is in more residential areas, for sure, although Manhattan tends to have more of a contiguous mix than some other cities which keeps it vibrant during most hours of the day. All in all, I'd say the premise of this article is not quite what reality denotes. Associate Architect Sadiqa Jabbar attended the Women in Property & Centro Planning Consultancy hosted 'NPPF & LURA Update' event noting 3 key changes outlined: #LPAs to provide #NPPF coordinated #LocalPlans, 5 year #HousingLandSupply strategy & a #TiltedBalance approach (in favour of approvals). As architects we must look more closely at the #NeighbourhoodPlan, #SupplementaryPlan and #PoliciesMap that LPAs must provide in addition to the #LocalPlan and for those of us in the Capital, the #LondonPlan. There was a great deal covered however to surmise design implications, the Local Plans must incorporate #DesignCodes that cover height, mass and density whilst not being overly prescriptive and covering all aspects of design. It appears that the floor area restriction of the conversion of office to residential use will be omitted, and greater consistency of #GreenBelt and #Heritage policies between the Local and National Plans. Us architects make an impact far larger than most think. The Architecture Profession has impact politically and socially. Politically, there are many within the professions who advocate to make changes on how design is regulated via what zoning and building code regulations are passed and/or changed. Furthermore, it is our duty to make sure the codes are being implemented properly and that no projects are construction illegally without permits or without meeting the codes that pertain to such projects. Socially, the profession impacts the type of projects that are built and how the design will affect the end users. Buildings last many years and shape the way the space and even city is used. A building can easily blend into the current design in the neighborhood or stand out and create a shift in the environment. Furthermore, Architecture affects the body and mind. It shelters us and makes us feel emotions, whether we realize it or not. For example, a façade with little to no windows could be seen as unwelcoming, yet a façade with large windows and lighting attracts attention and welcomes people in. Part of the Architecture Profession job is to understand the past/present and foresee what changes in Architecture design is needed to further improve the usage of the space and the individual human experience. We see things differently and spot things others wouldn’t. Whether it’s a small kitchen design to a skyscraper Architects knowledge in this expertise is important. 🔬📘 Excited to share our new research article: "RESEARCH OF CHARACTERISTICS OF INTERIOR COMFORT OF MULTIAPARTMENT RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS FOR DIFFERENT PERSONALITY TYPES" 🏡🛋️ During the quarantine period and the full-scale invasion of russia into Ukraine, issues related to changing residences and enhancing comfort became particularly relevant. Our article examines the interplay between the architectural characteristics of apartment interiors and the personality types of residents. Our primary objective is to study how architectural and spatial attributes influence comfort levels, depending on the residents’ personality types. We employed a two-component matrix construction method to identify these relationships and developed practical recommendations for designing and creating interiors.
