Over the past couple of decades, I have dedicated considerable time to understanding the root causes of software vulnerabilities. And, the experience has convinced me of the essential need for developer security education, particularly when technology and programming languages are first introduced to high school & college students. Here are some key observations I've made: * Security education during new hire orientation sets a high bar, but it's not enough. * Taking a single security class during a bachelor's program is a great introduction, but it falls short. * Cutting-edge security champions programs are excellent for new features and secure product development, but they aren't very effective in addressing the security debt tied to legacy software. So, when should one learn about software security? The answer is: as early as possible, ideally when technology courses are first introduced in a student's academic journey. Security should be an integral part of all tech courses, whether it's a programming language, database, or architecture class. Let's empower the next generation with the skills and knowledge to create secure software from the start, sowing the seeds for future cyber leaders. As part of my commitment to making software security a fundamental aspect of early academic life, on behalf of GradAchiever, I will conduct is a free cyber workshop for high school students. This workshop aims to equip them with the right career and education information, helping to create the cyber leaders of tomorrow. https://lnkd.in/gaGrqg-2 #CyberSecurity #DeveloperEducation #TechEducation #SecureSoftware #CyberAwareness #FutureLeaders #HighSchoolWorkshop #CollegePrep #TechCourses #CyberWorkshop #SecureDevelopment #CareerInTech #EducationForAll #GradAchiever
