#troutmanpepper Partner Alexandra Steinberg Barrage joined Bloomberg's The Close yesterday to chat about the latest developments in #bankregulation. "The key question for capital regulation generally is what options are currently on the table? Will we see an entirely new proposal following last summer's Basel III proposal from the agencies? Are we likely to see broadened material changes to that proposal? I think the answer there is 'yes' based on last week's testimony. Whether this will be a final rule with some changes or an entirely new rule is still somewhat in flux. The direction seems to be pointing in favor of an entirely new rule with another comment period for the industry and other stakeholders to comment." Highly recommended reading for my regulatory network: Stay informed about the global impact of Basel IV on various industries. The Basel IV framework marks a pivotal advancement in global banking regulation, emphasising enhanced resilience through stricter capital, leverage, and liquidity requirements. Capital regulations like Basel IV are designed to ensure banks remain strong over time and can continue lending money, even during economic downturns. Give this a read to make sure you are aware of how the new implementations create a resilient banking system that can support the economy consistently. The regulatory market is forever changing, so make sure you keep up to date! I specialise in recruiting for all things Regulatory Reporting, so get in touch if you are actively looking for a new role or if you are looking for new talent in your team! #hiring #Basel4 #RegulatoryReporting #EconomicChanges #RegulatoryChange #Capital #Liquidity

Reflecting on Conmissioner Sommer's 1974 insights, we see a parallel in today's SEC regulatory agenda. The commission deregulation of 1974 spurred the creation of Ameritrade, Scottrade, and Schwab, transforming the industry. Do you think the current SEC regulatory agenda will create the same type of lasting change?
This week in 1974, citing moves to unfix commission rates and create a central market system, Commissioner A. A. Sommer said that the securities industry was in a state of revolution. Sommer predicted that some institutions would fail and others succeed. Read “The SEC in the Midst of Revolution.” Learn more: https://buff.ly/4aYUIw6
