I help parents support their children to feel calmer, happier and more confident in themselves 🌟 Follow for parenting tips!
Don’t teach your child how to win Instead, teach them how to lose without it affecting their self-esteem Teach them how to help others lose well too Let them be the kid that waits behind to run with someone who can’t. That kid will forge through life, mending, bonding, inspiring, and creating yet maybe never winning a race. That kid will have control over his own self-worth and not put it in the hands of so many variables. That kid will have access to the peace that not requiring outside validation brings. What a gift to one so young. Don’t teach your children to win my friend, teach them to lose. That’s the hardest lesson to learn. Social media represents a dual influence on children’s mental health. While it encourages connectivity and self-expression, it also contributes to comparison and anxiety. Continuous scrolling can distort self-perception, while cyberbullying exacerbates insecurities. Equipping children with digital literacy and encouraging offline interests can mitigate these issues and contribute to mindful digital consumption. #SocialMedia #Effects #Children #MentalHealth #Wellbeing #Content #Cyberbullying #Isolation #Influence #Connectivity #Online #Offline #Mediatiz #Foundation

May is National Teen Self-Esteem Month, a time to reflect on the importance of nurturing positive self-worth in our youth. Every family does their best, and the way we uplift and guide our children plays a vital role in building their resilience against life’s challenges. In the UK, over 12% of children aged 11-16 have experienced mental health conditions, emphasizing the need for supportive environments. Social media can connect but often amplifies insecurities, so having open raw discussions are crucial to helping teens separate online pressures from real-life value. We all play a role in supporting the mental well-being of our youth. By providing emotional support, encouraging diverse interests, and nurturing communities, we empower our teens to develop self-awareness and the tools to counter negativity as this world can be cruel especially when you are young and finding your way in life. Muscle Mind Wellness “Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.” #NationalTeenSelfEsteemMonth #MentalHealthAwareness #TeenSupport #BuildResilience

Breaking the Silence: Addressing Teenage Loneliness Trigger Warning ⚠️ : This post discusses sensitive topics, including suicide and mental health. A heart-wrenching story caught my attention recently. A 14-year-old boy took his life to be with his virtual girlfriend. This tragic event sheds light on the alarming issue of teenage loneliness. We often assume teenagers are connected and social, but the truth is, many struggle with profound loneliness. They may hide behind masks of confidence, afraid to express their emotions. Let's face it: 1. Social media can exacerbate feelings of isolation. 2. Pressure to conform can silence vulnerable voices. 3. Mental health stigma prevents open discussions. But we can break the silence! Tips for teenagers: 1. Reach out to trusted adults (family, teachers, counselors). 2. Join clubs or groups aligning with your interests. 3. Practice self-care (exercise, mindfulness, creative pursuits). Tips for parents, educators, and mentors: 1. Encourage open conversations. 2. Foster empathetic environments. 3. Monitor online activities. Solutions: 1. School counseling programs. 2. Mental health workshops. 3. Online resources( Virtual Wellness Couches) Let's discuss: How can we create safe spaces for teenagers to express themselves? What strategies have worked for you or someone you know? Share your thoughts, experiences, and advice. Together, let's: 1. Raise awareness. 2. Break stigmas. 3. Support our youth. You are not alone. Let's keep the conversation going! #BreakTheSilence #TeenageLoneliness #MentalHealthMatters #EmpathyInAction #SupportOurYouth

What's the best way to help your kids grow? Help yourself! This week is Children’s Mental Health Week, and I’m talking with an ever-increasing number of parents who are concerned – they ask me how they can give their kids a better start in life than they had, particularly in terms of mental health and wellbeing. I recommend that they can best help their kids by helping themselves. What do I mean? I mean that parents can take steps to avoid passing their “stuff”- issues - on to their kids. How to do this? By dealing with their “stuff” so it’s no longer in their lives. The risk is that by not dealing with their own issues, parents inadvertently “hand down” those issues to their kids. Which means that it affects those kids in their adult lives. Not a legacy any parent would want. Neuroscience tells us that until the age of about 8, children are hyper-receptive. Your children notice, sense and take in absolutely EVERYTHING you and any others regularly around them do, say, act or react. And it affects them – often significantly. But all this can be avoided if you break the cycle by using my Solution Focused Therapy service’s dynamic and supportive rewiring of your subconscious mind. By leading their best possible lives, parents can more easily give their children a happier childhood. Empower yourself to empower them - and grow their brilliant future. Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, a timely reminder of the importance of caring for ourselves and those around us, particularly as we approach the winter months. For parents, the concern is increasingly focused on their children's well-being. A striking 79% of parents prioritize their children’s health over their own, but despite this, only 5% feel optimistic about their child’s future happiness. The digital age is amplifying these concerns: 52% of parents say internet use disrupts their child’s other interests and hobbies. 72% worry about the internet’s impact on body image and self-esteem. 55% are concerned about video game use, especially for boys. At Mumsnet, we witness these concerns every day—32% of conversations in our teenagers and preteens Talk boards revolve around mental health. It’s clear that families are grappling with these challenges, and the need for support is more important than ever. Let’s take today as a prompt to check in with ourselves, our children, and each other. #MentalHealthAwareness #Parenting #Wellbeing
