💧 Applications Insight: Dry Rate Testing 💧 This article is based on dry rate testing and covers how to perform the AATCC 201 test with our ProDry tester, including touching on some areas of interest when performing the test. In this article we discuss 'moisture management' as a stand alone topic within performance testing, as a textile/garments drying rate and wicking effectivity are so closely linked, sharing a number of performance features that work in tandem with the human body. Some of the key areas covered in this new 'Applications Insight' are: ✔️ Performance textiles and the human body ✔️ Features and functions ✔️ Dry rate testing using James Heal's ProDry This technical collaboration with Lisa Keeling of our Technical Team, proves a valuable read for anyone working in or studying in the areas of performance textiles and moisture management. What is "Fixing agent"? After dyeing process, fabric has unfixed dyestuff on the surface and if it becomes final goods, it causes color migration when it is wet or during washing. Fixing agent is to be applied to dyed fabric to fix the unfixed dyestuff on fabric. It improves wet color fastness and fabric quality. 📢 What is the Chain of Custody? Keeping track of a product's chain of custody ensures that recycled content claims are accurate. This is important because raw materials often travel across the globe to be spun, dyed, woven, cut, and sewn. You can ensure that at every stage along this journey, whatever goes in, comes out by getting your product certified by GRS OR RCS. So, in short, In garment manufacturing, fibers are tracked at every stage of their journey. This is called the chain of custody. Using a Chain of Custody standard is best practice to ensure product traceability. ➡ A product's traceability refers to its ability to be tracked throughout production and processing. The integrity of products depends on being able to track fibers or materials through a supply chain. Leveling Agent chemical Test in Washing (Dyeing part) (Most washing factories do not use leveling agents when they dye twill garments.) Leveling agent Optimizes reproducibility of results: No adverse effect on dye dispersion hence no dye agglomeration & no quality problems with stains and specks. Dyed shades are level and more even appearance of goods. Very good dispersing effect on disperse dyes: Additional use of dispersing agent is not necessary.
