Winter season schedule is upon us so I would like thank the Free Ride’s hard working back end staff. Our supervisors have been working diligently in creating schedule times, onboarding 20+ new staff members, creating GTFS, producing signage and much more in preparation for our winter service. We essentially double our staff for winter here in Breck. Two weeks prior to a service change we are busy conducting our annual driver trainings. These include customer service, conflict descalation, CPR, 1st aid, operational rules and regulations and much more. Just getting a driver into any training is difficult as they will either need to be covered or come in on a day off. Here is a reason why transit operations need to budget properly for overtime. Meanwhile, we have other staff members who are training non-CDL holders to obtain the proper licensing to drive a commercial vehicle. This training will last 80 hours before a new driver can even test. If this all comes together properly we can roll out winter service in Breckenridge with highly trained professional drivers. The public deserves high quality, free transit options to get them where they need to go. Hopefully our winter schedules meet that demand. See route information below.
