💜𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤'𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: Kaitlyn Barnett✨ Kaitlyn is TREND's Music Publicity Intern, who has been here for the last couple of months. Her positive energy enhances our team, and we are incredibly proud to have her with us! 🤍 🎙️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗? : I have learned the ins and outs of being a publicist for different clients, starting from researching different outlets, to securing an article on behalf of a client in the press. I have also learned how to network and make connections in the music industry. I also feel like I am learning about different global issues too, with the many Black Out Tuesday topics championed by the TREND staff. 🎙️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽? : Working in a very safe environment that prioritizes interns' values and knowledge instead of making us do busy work or making us feel like we're dumb if we ask for clarification or help. The TREND staff also helps us feel connected to each member of the company by taking the time to conduct interviews each week to break down the usual hierarchical barriers in a successful business to humanize them and see the multiplicity of personalities of each team member. 🎙️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆? : The reason is to help my older brothers, whom I looked up to, navigate being artists in the digital age and trying to grow their careers. I also felt like my strengths did not lie with being an artist myself, but still surrounding myself with musicians. Since I’ve always wanted to do something with music and see if I can help not just my brothers but other independent artists with their journey, my intentions shifted. I also find the business and music marketing aspect really interesting the way things continue to evolve with the evolution of the internet and social media. #musicindustry #musicbusiness #internship #earlycareer

This week, we’re highlighting one of our Public Relations interns, Zach Nemirovsky! We are constantly impressed by Zach’s hard work and innovation. What skills have you gained from your current internship at TREND? One of the most important skills I’ve learned is how to write and pitch a client to outlets and media publications. The importance of having a skill like this in the entertainment industry is extremely useful, and I’m very thankful to have received guidance from the senior staff on how to do it well. What is your favorite aspect of internship? I look forward to the “ask me anything” meetings with senior staff every week. It has been a great way to practice networking and have casual conversations with business professionals in a controlled environment. It’s also been a fun way to get to know the senior staffers more and build our relationship with them. What inspired you to pursue a career in the music industry? Prior to joining TREND, I didn’t know much about the music industry but understood that having knowledge of its ins and outs would prove useful down the line. The skills learned in PR are highly applicable to many other jobs, and having robust knowledge in various areas makes you highly desirable as an employee. #musicindustry #publicrelations #internship

Her creative attitude and passion for work are great assets to TREND. We are happy to have her on our team! 🎙️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆? : My father is a first-generation K-pop composer from the 90s, working with SM Entertainment artists. I have always been interested in music since I was young, but it became a profession for me after I actively participated as a vocalist in UCLA’s indie band. That’s when I first tried composing and releasing albums, falling in love with the charm of the music industry. Afterward, I studied in the United States, did various internships, and found my career path in the music industry. 🎙️𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗? : I create social media content to promote the new music releases of TREND’s artists and produce content for TREND’s TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn. While it was initially challenging to create content in English, I have become more accustomed to American culture, reading trends, and now, like other American Gen Zers, I can enjoy American TikTok and laugh along. Being in charge of social media, I have learned a lot of American slang and the way Americans speak. #musicindustry #intern #internship #earlycareers #internationalstudent

🏆 What were July's top 3 opportunities on the ERIC app? 💡 WHY they were so successful? 🙋 Let us talk you through it... -------------------------- 3️⃣ Internship: 'This Global Media Brand is Looking for an Intern' This post about Monocle's radio internship did extremely well, despite radio opportunities often being overshadowed by film and TV. We believe the title did a great job at hooking people in. a) it immediately established it was a 'global' organisation, suggesting potential travel b) the word 'media' is vague enough to interest people who have never considered radio before -------------------------- 2️⃣ Internship: 'Launch your Creative Career with Cannes Lions Now' The majority of young people have no idea what Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is. Yet, this opportunity defied the odds! We think the appeal of Cannes enticed people to find out more, and the description of the internship benefits were undeniably good. a) they were incredibly specific about what you would be doing on the internship and the skills & experience you would gain b) they mentioned a free trip to Cannes as you would be part of the team working on the 2025 festival -------------------------- 1️⃣ Open call: 'Showcase your Creativity on the BBC 🥳' This went viral on ERIC's tiktok, with over 230,000 views! The success of this opportunity can be put down to 2 things: a) the BBC is a big name that most people are keen to get on their CV b) there were zero barriers to entry to apply. No experience needed, fully-remote, a clear ROI of time spent applying, multiple spaces available for applicants -------------------------- And there you have it! The best of the best on the ERIC app from July 2024. Want to get your opportunity on the ERIC app? Contact [email protected] and we can hook you up with a free profile and 3 free posts! #creativecareers #internship #opencall #creativeindustry #creativeindustries #careersopportunity #opportunity #entrylevel #earlycareers

11 years ago was my first day of my internship in A&R at Warner Music Group, here are 5 things I learned during college internships in the Music Industry. (And yes, I picked up the kind of drugs that you have to show your ID to the pharmacist for at CVS. A band was in a recording session and the lead singer was sick and needed the good stuff.) 1) Listen to every conversation you can. If you're allowed, sit in on meetings (quietly) and listen in on phone calls. Take notes and, after, find a time with your supervisor to ask questions about it. 2) Read every email, contract, etc. that comes across your desk. I primarily did this when I worked at WME | William Morris Endeavor, but this is what helped me get comfortable understanding key terms of contracts and how they're negotiated. 3) If you don't have an assigned project, look out for opportunities to add value (and, in most cases you're supporting an assistant or coordinator, so ask them!) As an intern, some projects that I came up with along with the assistants I supported included: organizing cabinets of CDs (guess that wasn't helpful long term...but I got to take home whatever I wanted!), started an industry newsletter for the office (Noah Simon suggested this to me), and listened to demos and flagged the ones that were worth a closer listen and why. 4) Say yes! Even if something seems boring, like making copies for a meeting, it's important to immerse yourself in that office and get a better idea of what it might look like to be an entry-level employee there. Most major internship programs now will give you plenty of interesting projects, but any internship is what you make of it. 5) Talk to people outside of your immediate department. This is a great way to build relationships that might turn into future internships or jobs (your department won't always have an opening when you graduate!). Additionally, you can learn lots about other divisions and what they do and possibly find a dream role you never knew existed! What did you learn as an intern? #internship #intern #musicindustry #college
