It’s time to register for our next quarterly network meeting! This is a great opportunity for New Yorkers to connect with others and learn more about trauma-informed care. Debra Cady of Silver Linings International said, "The Quarterly meeting was such a fantastic experience. I was particularly impressed with how it was facilitated, incorporating trauma-informed principles so seamlessly. It made me feel right at home, and I could tell that everyone else felt the same. The sense of community you've nurtured here is truly special, and I'm grateful to be a part of it." Author of ParentAssess and Winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award - Social Worker of the Year Awards 2022
This is a useful article. ParentAssess has always encouraged a trauma-informed approach to assessment. This is not always easy, because building trust with someone who is assessing whether your family remains together is very difficult and often it takes time. Assessors need to skillfully explore past events being mindful this can potentially re-traumatise but they do this in an effort to understand the impact of trauma on parenting and attachments. They also work with the parent to think about how coping strategies and more positive patterns can be developed. By adopting this approach we are seeing more positive assessment outcomes and parents are reporting they understand much more about their parenting and relationships. #parentassess #assessment #familylaw #socialwork
