🌍 Exploring Primary and Secondary Destinations: Insights for Sustainability Tourism 🌍
Today, I had the opportunity to gain new insights into a topic outside my usual field, but one I am closely connected to. Professor Korakit Chomgrant from Kasetsart University, Thailand, delivered an enlightening lecture on the concepts of "Primary and Secondary Destinations" in tourism.
Primary Destinations are those well-known for their iconic attractions, such as major cultural landmarks or natural wonders. These are the main draws that attract visitors and are widely recognized.
In contrast, Secondary Destinations refer to less prominent locations that offer supplementary experiences. Although these destinations might not have the same level of recognition, they provide valuable opportunities for tourism management companies and tour operators to diversify their offerings.
Professor Chomgrant emphasized that understanding both types of destinations can help tourism professionals evaluate alternative activities and create more comprehensive travel experiences. While primary destinations capture the most attention due to their iconic status, secondary destinations offer hidden gems that can enrich the overall visitor experience and support balanced tourism development.
Thank you, Professor Chomgrant, for the valuable presentation. I think these concepts are crucial for developing effective tourism strategies and enhancing both visitor satisfaction and regional growth.

1moThis sounds great, but I hope the social issues in Alice will also be addressed. I know this is not an issue for tourism to solve, but it impacts tourism - among many other things. And no shiny new product is going to help if customers don't deel ok to go there.
