Midlife, not your 70s or 80s, is when brain changes start to occur that can pave the way toward dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive decline later, according to a growing body of research. Intervening earlier to improve brain health, might help people stay sharper in their later years, researchers say. This month (June) is dedicated to Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness. It is crucial to understand and raise awareness about Alzheimer's to educate people and advance research in fighting the disease. Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, accounting for 60-80% of dementia cases among the over 50 million people estimated to have dementia worldwide. It causes progressive memory loss, cognitive difficulties, and behavioral changes. Alzheimer's is not a normal part of aging and while there is currently no cure, there are treatments available that can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. Join Revna Biosciences in raising awareness by sharing this post to help spread word about Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. #AlzheimersAwarenessMonth #BrainHealth #DementiaAwareness #EndAlzheimers For more information, visit: Alzheimer's Association: https://www.alz.org/ World Health Organization: https://lnkd.in/eSpSchbi do/partnerships/world-health-organization/

Globally, dementia is increasing rapidly from 50 million today to over 150 million people by the year 2050. Besides the human toll involved with dementia, the social and care costs are currently $263 billion annually and is forecasted to increase to $1.6 trillion by 2050. It is therefore imperative to identify approaches to delay its onset, slow its progression or prevent it altogether. Beyond pharmacological treatments, scientists are looking into improvements in health and behavioral changes that might reduce risk of developing dementia later in life.
