With the Pharos_UP laser from Light Conversion it is possible to go down to 16 fs in a single stage pulse shortening module, MIKS1-M. The setup is shown in the video. The pulses are measured with D-cycle from Sphere Ultrafast Photonics. Broadband terahertz generation and high harmonic generation can undoubtedly benefit from it.

Excited to share our new research on Backward Wave Optical Parametric Oscillation (BWOPO) in a waveguide, published in Nature NPJ Nanophotonics. This marks the first-ever waveguide-based BWOPO, offering a 19x lower oscillation threshold making pumping with compact Q-switched or gain-switched microchip lasers a compelling option. These advances also promise huge potential for quantum optics—enabling the development of ultra-compact, high-efficiency narrowband photon sources ideal for quantum computing and communications. 🚀 Excited to share my latest publication: "Elevating NIR Photonic Integration with Tantalum-Niobium Pentoxide"! 🌟 In this work, we introduce a material platform based on tantalum-niobium pentoxide (TaNbO5) for integrated photonics. With exceptional properties for both linear and nonlinear optics across near-infrared wavelengths, TaNbO5 reveals crucial insights, including a direct band gap of 2.268 eV and a refractive index of 2.22 at 1550 nm. Our results demonstrate that TaNbO5 waveguides achieve over 99% efficiency for single-mode configurations while showcasing excellent transmission characteristics when coupled with conventional waveguides.
