Are you doing correctly CCTA? 30ml of contrast and 2ml/s flow acquired with 80kV can be enough for a 65Kg patient (BMI 23.9). Result attenuation was around 500HU so high quality study! Contrast dose optimisation must be performed in every scan, independently it is spectral or conventional. Known properties of your own CT scan and your Injectior system is fundamental, and contrast dose and radiation dose optimisation are both important as those are strictly connected. The objective is patient benefit and ALARA should be applied not only to radiation dose, but also to contrast dose. The SMART Trial results shared at #ACC24 today are remarkable - showing the superiority of self expanding valves over balloon expanding valves for performance at 12 months. Not only that, the trial enrolled an astounding number of women - the largest TAVR trial to enroll mostly women at over 85%. Panelists during the late breaking science session commented on how remarkable these findings are on their own, and in how they speak to the need to study disease states which disproportionately impact women. This landmark trial, sponsored by Medtronic, is an excellent example of how studies both can, and should enroll women. To that end, I get to spend a lot of time with our clinical users and our engineering team. It is super important to make sure people with #chronicconditions are supported, even when they are not experiencing an acute flare. These #digitalhealth options have proven an excellent way to do that in other areas and one I think wil have a big impact on IBD.

In the February issue of OCT Insights, Dr. James Fanelli discusses the critical role imaging played in caring for a 93-year-old patient with glaucoma and macular degeneration. In this case, he chose to image the patient on the SPECTRALIS Glaucoma Module Premium Edition (GMPE) because “the advanced software offers several advantages for evaluating the structure of the posterior pole.” He further shares, “If your OCT only measures one small RNFL circle scan, you’re missing out on the plethora of data that can be evaluated.
