In Porsche vehicles, the night vision system consists of the electronic control unit (ECU) for night vision and a special camera. The ECU processes the raw images from the camera and calculates the object positions that are important for the driver's safety. It is integrated into the instrument cluster, the Modular Infotainment System (MIB), and the optional head-up display. Safety functions include the detection of objects up to 160 m away or the activation of warnings. When detecting animals, a discreet marker light replaces the strong flashing light beam so as not to frighten them.
