How many people think Atlanta is full? We had more than twice the number of people per square mile 80 years ago. Fun fact, we barely have as many people per square mile today as Houston. Why? 1) Zoning 2) The need for more transportation investment. Why is it hard to come up with transportation dollars? How about a low-density development pattern that doesn't generate enough revenues to cover basic services and long-term capital investments?

Recently, Blackwood Family Enterprise Services was listed as a multi-family office by Canadian Family Offices. While we are not a family office, we certainly enjoyed the conversation the article sparked and were not the only ones. So what is a family office? At Blackwood, we focus more on identifying each family office’s needs than on defining them. Read more about the approach we use and how Blackwood can help you here: https://lnkd.in/diHeEveW Dr. Moira Somers

It's not easy to build a management team for family offices. In this episode, I speak with Brian C. Adams, Principal at Mack International LLC. We discuss his transition from the commercial real estate industry to executive search for family offices. He explains the unique challenges of hiring for family office positions, including the need for candidates with both technical skills and emotional intelligence to work within a family construct. It's a lively conversation, and it's a side of the business that people usually don't think about.

Well, the (not so secret) secret is out! In June, I relocated to Dallas with my family to strategically align my location for KellyMitchell Group. San Diego will always have our hearts, and no doubt we will be back there someday in the future. However, the opportunity we see in front of us at KellyMitchell is simply too awesome to pass up. It puts me in the center of the ring for our growth strategy across Texas and the South, and allows me to be within close reach of many of our strategic customers. It’s our intent to build Dallas as our third major hub for KM, alongside Chicago, Saint Louis, and our markets across the Company. With all that said, there was a deeper reason that compelled me to move our family away. Back in 2020, the employees of KellyMitchell received some surprising news. Since our inception, we had always been a privately held organization owned and led by Mark LoCigno and Cassandra Sanford They had successfully built KellyMitchell over the last 25 years into one of the largest and most respected firms in our industry. After years of hard work and sacrifice, they made the decision to do something that so few owners do. They transitioned KellyMitchell into a 100% employee-owned organization, or an ESOP. This is rare air for companies; most entrepreneurs choose a different path. Private equity and acquisition are easier options for them, frankly. For those of you who don’t know, an ESOP is a company where a portion (in our case, 100%) of the ownership is gifted to the employees, who own individual shares of their employer. Think of companies like Publix, which remains my favorite grocery store. Over the last few years, I’ve come to realize that being an owner of an ESOP is very different than being an employee. 99% of staffing firm employees either work for their founders if privately held, or work mostly for strangers if they are public or private equity-backed. That’s not us at KellyMitchell. They say to whom much is given, much is required. In my role, I have been given a lot, and I wanted to do all I could to ensure I am positioned to lead our organization for our shareholders. That’s why we moved. Because at KellyMitchell, we work for each other, and that just hits a little different.

Managing Partner at Infinity Properties | Founding Partner at Schlacter Law. Real Estate Investor and Operator | Legal Strategist. Passionate about leveraging my diverse skill set to drive transformative results.
Only a few of the reasons Infinity Properties loves small bay industrial parks. Infinity is a leader in management and ownership of this under appreciated asset class. We are actively under contract and negotiating industrial acquisitions in Florida, Georgia, Texas, New York, Utah and Colorado. 1️⃣ Cost Efficiency: Small bay industrial spaces often offer competitive rates compared to larger counterparts, making them attractive for businesses looking to optimize costs. 2️⃣ Agility: These parks provide the flexibility smaller businesses need to adapt and grow, with customizable spaces that cater to various needs and scale. 3️⃣ Collaboration: Being part of a small bay industrial park fosters collaboration and networking among businesses, paving the way for partnerships and innovation. 4️⃣ Local Resilience: By anchoring within communities, these parks contribute to local economies and demonstrate resilience in the face of economic challenges. 5️⃣ Lack of Supply: These parks have proven to be too expensive to build making supply extremely limited.
