Does your company have a need for STEM employees? The Department of Labor wants your input. 💻 🖨 🖱 📈 💉 🔬 👩🔬 The Department of Labor is embarking on a pivotal initiative under President Biden’s directives in Executive Order 14110. This move is set to transform the STEM employment landscape in the U.S. On December 15, 2023, the DOL released a Request for Information (RFI) aimed at revising Schedule A for labor certification. This is particularly significant for foreign workers in #STEM fields, but it also covers other sectors facing #laborshortages . The aim is to maintain a balance between providing U.S. workers with job opportunities and ensuring access to #foreigntalent when domestic labor is insufficient. This initiative is key to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the lengthy and complicated PERM labor certification program. What is Schedule A? Schedule A is a list under federal regulations that identifies occupations for which there are known shortages of qualified U.S. workers. Inclusion in Schedule A allows certain foreign workers to bypass some of the traditional labor certification steps, expediting their employment in the U.S. The DOL is calling for input from industry experts. They are collecting data, studies, and insights to develop a robust process for updating Schedule A to include critical STEM and non-STEM occupations, shaping key employment policies at a national level. The DOL invites thoughts on potential STEM occupations for Schedule A and the criteria for defining these roles. Insights on labor shortages and considerations for Schedule A updates are highly valued. Deadline for submission is February 20, 2024. This is a unique chance for #STEMcorporations to influence future employment policies. This initiative will play a crucial part in driving innovation and development in the STEM sector. Your expertise can have a lasting impact on STEM employment in the U.S. Engage in this significant national initiative and help shape a forward-thinking employment landscape. #employment #stemopt #stem #stemcareers #stemeducation #stemjobs #departmentoflabor #dol #laborlaw #EMPLOYERS #permanentresidency #greencard #perm

🟠#labourmarketoutlook 📈There were more than 870,000 new job postings in January 2024, meaning there are more than 1.8 million active job postings in the UK. There's a lot to digest in the full REC report, which you can find ⬇️ 📈The latest #LabourMarketTracker shows that there were 873,169 new job postings in January 2024, which is a 27.9% increase from the month before (December 2023). One interesting stat from the national gender pay gap reports is how few of our 1.4 million employers have >500 staff. Here's the analysis, and we wonder why it is hard to find work placements for students! 63 have 20,000+ 512 have 5,000-19,999 2,311 have 1,000-4,999 2,742 have 500-999 employees and colleges, universities and MATs make up a sizeable proportion of the 500 and 1,000+ categories.

More of this, please... An employer offering training and work placements for women who want to return to the workplace after they've had a career break. The motherhood penalty exacerbates the gender pay gap by reducing earnings for mothers. Breaks for caregiving often result in lower pay, less experience, and fewer job opportunities, making it tough for mums to advance in their careers. It's fantastic to see employers TransPennine Express (TPE) and Northern Rail taking action to support women in overcoming these barriers. Do you know of any other employers doing similar? Pop them in the comments below. #careerbreak #genderpaygap #motherhoodpenalty #paygap #careergap

Sure, writing a post for IWD is cool but have you tried… … making the next job you advertise truly flexible in hours and location …budgeting to level the pay of men and women in your team this year … asking a dude to take notes in the next meeting … asking the most junior woman in the room what she thinks and then repeating it back (with credit) to any selectively deaf colleagues … enhancing your maternity policy …having a woman on the board who isn’t in charge of HR or marketing … hiring female grads and apprentices into STEM jobs and making sure they have high quality managers … turning down business from places that have a poor record of women’s rights … turning the office thermostat up a couple of degrees What else? #notladychristmas #iwd2024 #deedsnotwords 💚💜🤍
