We have just created an Ally Pack. The Ally Pack is for organisations to sign up to to find out how they can stand in solidarity with us and our campaign to raise awareness of online disability hate. Hate speech towards disabled people is not only the least reported it is also underreported. This is due to the disabled community feeling they are not always able to stand up for themselves. Some of us feel our voices are not respected. Also we may not have strong networks or connections that can offer support when issues arise online We believe allies can support the disabled community to be empowered. We recognise that at times the voices of the non-disabled are listened to more and we want to tap into this power and potential. The online disabled community is growing but we need more people to stand in solidarity with us Our Ally Pack will give you tools and tips so that you can play an active role in reporting online hate speech towards disabled people You can sign up to our Ally Pack here https://lnkd.in/eW9cZHrF Also could you share it within your workplace and networks. This will really help CYA to grow their allies If you have any questions or thoughts let me know Thomas please share this with all the cool and regional businesses and International Business

International Relations Student, Disabled Rights Speaker, Working for the Disabled Community. My opinions are my opinions.
The cost of disabled activism online is becoming increasingly apparent. In recent years, it seems that the focus has shifted from a broad, inclusive approach to one where certain agendas dominate, often benefiting only a select few rather than the larger community. While everyone involved has personal interests and priorities, it’s important to remember that no single perspective should override the collective needs and goals of the disabled community. For instance, individuals like Jamie Shields and organizations such as Unlearning Ableism are pursuing their own specific agendas, which, while valuable, can also lead to financial gain and increased visibility for them personally. I thought our community would be the first to lead the change. This focus on niche issues and financial incentives might be diverting attention from more universal concerns and diluting the overall impact of disabled activism online. Why (disabled activists) should we make it a financial incentive? What are we doing with ourselves? #UK #DisabledCommunity #Paid #Interests

Enjoying Nature and Reflecting on Society: A Call for Kindness and Action Last Saturday, we enjoyed the beautiful Peak District. It made me happy to be back in the UK after visiting family and friends. But I also feel upset about our leaders. It's hard to understand why they choose to send weapons when international laws have been broken so many times. Bombing refugee tents full of children in "safe areas" is outrageous. Protecting Our Rights Laws like the Human Rights Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, and Equality Act are there to protect us. These laws are important, and it’s wrong to oppress anyone. Human rights belong to everyone and are the basis for many other laws. Peaceful protests show a healthy democracy. But when the state responds with violence or takes away freedom, it’s a bad sign. Rights for Disabled People In the UK and around the world, many disabled people can’t get jobs, enjoy leisure, find housing, or access health care. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has made many mistakes, causing many people to suffer. We need more compassion and understanding to help everyone live well. Media Responsibility and Economic Impact The media needs to cover disability, racism, gender, and other protected characteristics more fairly. Bad coverage makes things worse for many people. Following the law and treating people fairly also makes economic sense. For example, in the UK, we lose about £279 billion because of discrimination against disabled people and their families. A Call to Action: Join Us We all need to be kinder and more compassionate to those around us. Respecting each other’s views can help us live in peace and for all to thrive. Join our workshops, training, audits, and talks to learn more and make a difference. Here are some of our training sessions available in June: Deaf Awareness Dementia Awareness Mental Capacity Act Book now to get discounts. DM me for more info. Visual description is in the alt text. Here in brief: A picture sharing a stunning view high up of Lady Bower, a large reservoir in the Peak District. The view includes lush green fields, woods and red moors in the distance #HumanRights #DisabilityRights #DeafAwareness #Humanity

After their incredible launch in April 2023 at the Victoria Pride Centre, our friends at Inclusive Rainbow Voices have just launched their major consultion with community members, aiming to get some clear priorities for the next five years. Why is this important? Just over 38 per cent of LGBTIQA+ community report having a disability or long-term health condition (including mental health). This is over double the rate for heterosexual Australians. As a group of people who are wildly talented and determined to make things better for all of us, please: 1. Give them a follow 2. Boost their post 3. Tag in people who might like to participate 4. Share in your work newsletter 5. Answer the survey or attend a consult session. #InclusionMeansAllOfUs #InclusionMatter #LGBTIQA
We are excited to share our first community consultation series! If you are an LGBTIQA+ person with disability who would like to connect with peers, learn more about IRV and share your thoughts about what is important to you, this is for you! We are providing space for community to tell us what is important to you and what you would like IRV to work towards over the next 5 years. Find out more and register for our in-person and online consultations below. We can't wait to meet you!

Been honoured by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for my services in campaigning for disability rights and awareness. Founder of (Don't Call Me Special).
Working with NGOs, #DisabilityCharities, and businesses in the care sector for disabled people, I often notice the use of the term "vulnerable" to describe disabled people. This word was used a lot during the pandemic by so called professionals, local authorities and even uk governments, where disabled rights were often neglected and infringed upon. Let's move away from this patronising medical model term and focus on the social model, where we describe people based on their impairments. It makes my skin crawl to hear such disempowering language. 🚫 Please join me in making a difference! ✊ #DisabilityInclusion #SocialModel #MentalHealthAwareness #EndAbleism #InclusiveLanguage #CareSector

If you complain about disabled individuals accessing resources that help them become financially independent in a competitive workforce, if you believe businesses should have the right to discriminate against disabled individuals, and if you also complain about them being on government assistance (which forces them to live way below the poverty line), then it’s clear you harbor harmful biases against us. Project 2025 evokes a disturbing sense of history repeating itself. People can no longer stick their heads in the sand during the era of the internet. It’s important to acknowledge that the marginalization and discrimination against disabled individuals have persisted since the Holocaust in the 1940s and even before that. The violence and neglect disabled individuals face is a matter of life and death. Disability is a marginalized group anyone can join. Don’t think it doesn’t affect you, because the COVID-19 pandemic showed otherwise. The same systems that oppress disabled individuals can and will harm others too. #project2025 #endeugenics #stopkillingus
