Increasing cases of cancer reported, highlights the necessity to investigate always all potential risk factors of cancer. The concept of immunosenescence was first proposed by Walford in 1964 and is characterized by decreased adaptive immunity, decreased infection resistance, and increased autoimmune risk In addition, a variety of factors can dramatically influence this status, such as genetics, exercise, nutrition, previous exposure to microorganisms, sex, and human cytomegalovirus infection. It could therefore be possible to target the immune system of the elderly aiming to restore its competence . There is a difference in innate and adaptive immune systems between young and elderly individual. T cells are the main effectors of acquired immunity, and their compartment is heavily affected during aging, cumulating defects that can increase immune system damage, disease susceptibility, and the occurrence of malignant tumors in the elderly. Immunosenescence is a process of immune dysfunction that occurs with age and includes remodeling of lymphoid organs, leading to changes in the immune function of the elderly. Moreover, an important distinguishing feature is that the thymus gradually recedes and degenerates with age, resulting in a decrease in T cell output*** New approach aiming to restore thymus function and the production of T cells provides an effective strategy not only in immunosenesence. Additionally, inflammation related to advanced age will produce a senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), which also leads to immune system senescence Intrinsic factors in immune system cells as well as potential extrinsic factors that are often overlooked can also cause immunosenescence and its complexity supports the idea that it will lead to the damage of immune systems and Interference with own host immune surveillance, are known to lead to the occurrence of various diseases. * Cancer and decreased imunosurveillance due mrna technology Adverse complications that may be associated also with the novel mrna technology used during COVID-19 are part of risks, thus need for early proactive depistage and guidance for all physicians in early and proactive surveillance, detection and adapted treatment..

We are each affected differently & people with NF2 are affected by Brain Tumours, Spine Tumours, Optical Tumours, Deafness, Blindness, Epilepsy, vocal chord paralysis, mobility problems, chronic pain, cataracts, facial palsy ... & much more! Today we meet Simon who was 18 years old when his NF2 journey started back in 2013. " It was one of my darkest times on a normal summers day in July 2013 and I had gone on a bike ride with my Auntie. I love cycling, the freedom of being outdoors in the fresh air. For some reason on this day I was having problems riding my bike, the track was narrow and I was finding it hard to keep the bike upright. I fell off it a couple of times. My mum was worried and took me to A & . A CT Scan was the start of my roller coaster ride" NF2, is a lifelong genetic condition, There is no middle or ending to any of our stories. Surgery, radiosurgery, and chemotherapy—are the only options we have. Yet, they come at a cost. NF2 is for life, an unwavering companion. There is no cure, no magic elixir to erase its presence. Last week the Government announced a boost to the National Travel Assistance (NTA) scheme – the first since 2009. This will make a big difference to people undergoing cancer treatment who have to travel for treatment.   It will also help us to keep the wolf from the door at the Cancer Society Lion’s Lodge in Hamilton where we have a $550/night funding shortfall.    However, there is more to be done.   Demand for cancer support services is the highest it’s ever been and growing - 74 New Zealanders are diagnosed with cancer every day and this is set to double by 2040.   On a regional level, we must continue to think differently about how we can support more people on their cancer journeys. We must do it fast and we must do it together.  The treadmill of year-round intensive fundraising is not a sustainable way to meet the rising need.   Nobody should have to fight this battle on their own. https://lnkd.in/gYZwjeeB

I was happy to get that help, because first when I was introduced to Avastin, they were a little bit reluctant because of the side effects on a young person like me. But this would mean that I’d get some more years without surgeries ... I moved to Norway, and was asked if I have plans of starting a family some day, and that was the first time they warned me about getting pregnant while on Avastin because it can cause severe damage to the baby" NF2, is a lifelong genetic condition, that weaves itself into the fabric of existence, unyielding and unrelenting. This November, Cairo Development is dedicated to raising awareness and fundraising for Movember that supports men’s health issues, including testicular cancer, the most common cancer among young men in Canada. Despite its prevalence, there's hope: the survival rate is impressive at over 95%. However, surviving testicular cancer often means grappling with long-term treatment effects that can significantly impact a man's life. So, what should you know about testicular cancer? ➡ Age is a key factor—it's most commonly diagnosed in men aged 15-39. ➡ Regular self-exams are crucial for early detection. Young men should be aware of any changes and consult their healthcare provider promptly. ➡ Awareness and education are vital. Understanding the signs and symptoms can lead to early diagnosis and better outcomes. Early detection and support for those affected are essential in the fight against testicular cancer.. Wear Red for World Sickle Cell Day! We are excited to announce that in light of World Sickle Cell Day on 19th June, our London team is launching an initiative to raise awareness about this important cause. Two of our team members, Deon Nzou and Umul Ahmed MSc CertRP have been involved with Black Pharma and recently listened to an eye-opening talk on the challenges of Sickle Cell Disorder. This condition disproportionately affects people from Black ethnic backgrounds. When you compare it to Cystic Fibrosis, which has a ton of therapies available and mostly affects White Europeans, there's a huge disparity – Sickle Cell has just 2 approved treatments (Voxelotor , hydroxyurea) . CY Partners are proud to be affiliated with the Sickle Cell Society and Black Pharma networks. To honour World Sickle Cell Day on the 19th June, we’re doing the following: 🔴 Changing our branding from blue to red for the day. 🔴 Setting up donation pots in the reception/café area of The Pillbox for the week leading up to the 19th. 🔴 Making a company donation. 🔴 Having one of our team members at reception in The Pillbox from 11:30 am to 1 pm on the 19th giving out info, collecting donations and handing out goodies. As Americans, this is a day when we come together to celebrate our independence and express our patriotism.  I hope we take a moment to remember that the freedoms we enjoy are not free, and we pause to honor the sacrifices of those who have fought for the freedom we hold so dear.  I also hope we stop for a minute today to pray for those in countries around the globe we don’t know freedom.      In the United States, most children with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders now survive their diseases. Through research and treatment, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has helped make that progress possible.  But the outlook can be far less optimistic for children who live in other parts of the globe.  Worldwide, more than 90% of children with cancer live in low and middle-income countries.  Too many of those children lack access to adequate diagnosis and treatment. Most of them will die from their diseases, but that statistic is about to change.   St. Jude has launched an ambitious initiative to improve access to care for children with cancer and life-threatening blood diseases in every corner of the world.  Led by the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine, St. Jude Global will create a network of interactive institutions that will form a global alliance focused on reducing this gap worldwide.  The mission of St. Jude Global is to improve the survival rates of children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases worldwide through the sharing of knowledge, technology, and organizational skills.   I hope you saw the news about the cancer patients and family members from Gaza who were evacuated last week to our alliance partners.  Dr. Carlos Rodriguez-Galindo of St. Jude was interviewed on NBC Nightly News about the effort.  Working with the State Department and White House, the World Health Organization and governments of the region, ALSAC and St. Jude were able to help get this done – just as we have in other crisis zones recently like Syria and Ukraine.  It’s part of what Danny Thomas meant when he said, “No child should die in the dawn of life – no child, anywhere.”    #4thofjuly #independence #freedom #cancer #curecancer #childhoodcancer #childhood cancer awareness #fightcancer #fightcancertogether #philanthropy #fightchildhoodcancer #stjudegeorgia #stjudega #stjudechildrensresearchhospital #donate
