It would be far better for the Government - and for that matter the Opposition - to focus not on Lee Anderson, but rather the underlying sickness of which he and his 'story' are mere example. Stirring hostility, suspicion, anxiety and even hate as a means to court popularity is not just indecent and destructive, it is ultimately self-destructive. Serious politics would focus on taking & managing responsibilities rather than shirking them; acting in accordance with law, truth & humanity rather than assaulting them; and paying careful regard to people's real lives & circumstances rather than ignoring them. The development of asylum policy, particularly since December 2020, has led the way in doing precisely the opposite of what would be serious for no better reason than courting favour by political and social agitation. The longer this has gone on, the harder it has become to turn back; and the longer it continues, the worse the situation will get. But sadly, it will be easier for many to bemoan Mr Anderson than ever truly reflect on their own part in what is now a miserable cycle. https://lnkd.in/dx534iEw

A new publication with Dr Paul Anderson In this piece for a special issue, we examine successive UK Conservative-led governments and evaluate devolution in Scotland and Wales through the lens of the Asymmetric Power Model and the British Political Tradition. We document changes in the position of successive Conservative governments, from the more plurinationally sensitive respect agenda of David Cameron to the more assertive and intrusive Unionism advanced under those in post after 2016, notably Theresa May and Boris Johnson. https://lnkd.in/g9XqefpJ

Running PolicyMogul's manifesto comparison tool is costing me and my investors a lot of money (unless they are reading this, in which case it's not). But democracy thrives when information is accessible. We are so proud to contribute by making it simple to analyse the party manifestos in relation to any organisation or cause. Political manifestos are lengthy and complex, and reading the entire document to identify relevance to specific issues is a laborious task at a time when, for many of us, every minute matters. PolicyMogul recognises that small teams and public affairs professionals have impactful ideas, but often lack the time and resources available to larger organisations. This is why we are on a mission to make political intelligence available to all organisations, regardless of how deep their pockets are. Feel free to use the tool to compare manifestos, save time, and get me in more trouble with our investors.
Describe any issue and compare what the major parties are saying about it in their manifestos, in seconds. ✅ Labour manifesto ✅ Conservative manifesto ✅ Liberal Democrat manifesto ✅ Green Party manifesto ✅ Plaid Cymru manifesto 🔜 Reform UK manifesto 🔜 SNP manifesto We'll be updating it live as more manifestos are released - try it out today.

How honest has your political parties and leaders been? What does the conservatives stands for? What is labour actually changing and what are they standing for? What about other parties? Can any of these parties truly and honestly do the right, sensible and reasonable thing? I struggle to find anything that represents me in most of the manifesto of these parties as they mostly look the same and nothing to differentiate from the other? But Reform perhaps you might want to call it a child’s play or even want to love or hate the leader, however, do they stand for something? How honest and sensible or reasonable do you think their manifesto is? This is in the middle of the election today but are you thinking what I am thinking? What are you thinking? The below interview makes for an interesting watch enjoy!
