I saw this simple yet to-the-point poster in one of the small, pleasantly old-fashioned cafes in McLeod Ganj. Notice something? Look carefully! There will be something that catches your eye. Yes, you’re right! It reads: "If satisfied, tell others; if not, tell us!" The cafe didn't have any fancy frames or sayings, just this one poster that conveyed two things simply yet clearly. First, that you need to be patient with your food order and not complain if it doesn’t come quickly. Second, if you like their humble cafe and the food, go brag about it to your friends; if not, tell them—they're all ears. For me, this simple poster casually occupying almost half the wall conveyed its message effectively. Sometimes, #marketing or #communication doesn’t need to be complicated, have fancy words, eccentric designs, or use pun-intended phrases or wordplay. It’s like advertising meat to a vegan community. Recently, I’ve received quite a few postcards in the mail advertising pet food. I find it interesting. If you do any research into the Lakewood community, you’ll find that hardly anyone here has pets. (Nothing against them, it’s just the facts.) Whichever company is sending out postcards to everyone in town is essentially throwing their money into the garbage. It got me thinking about target markets. Before marketing any product or service, it’s crucial to determine who your clients are. From there, you can work outwards. And no, everyone is not an answer. Because when you speak to everyone, you speak to no one. So, do yourself a favor. Before you go head-on into your marketing, spend time identifying your audience. Speak to them and meet them in their surroundings. Show up where they’ll see you. Who’s your target market? #print #design #marketing #bpprintgroup

Here’s what I learned last week: 1. Repetition Increases Memory - I saw what feels like 100 signs/billboards for this restaurant in Belize that had a green, yellow, & black color palette and now whenever I see these colors, it reminds me of that restaurant. If your brand is already tied to a color palette/theme, creating consistent content around this will build a cohesive narrative that’s easily memorable. 2. Value Sells - There were so many times on this trip people would approach me saying I should buy their products and it instantly turned me off. Don’t be a hard seller all the time. The only item I purchased as a gift was a shark stuffed animal for my girlfriend simply because there was already a connection to the product and my partner. There was no hard selling in that transaction. Valuable. 3. It Never Hurts to Ask - One of my taxi drivers in Roatan had some amazing stories that otherwise wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t ask about his life. I left that country extremely fulfilled with his knowledge & wisdom. If you’re a brand that doesn’t know if your customer has a unique story to share tied to your brand, ask! Mini-brand stories/testimonials are an extremely effective way to connect with your audience instead of hard selling them. Plus, real people are sharing the features & benefits of your brand! How can you get your ideal customers to choose you? Is to make your business offer more attractive than the alternative option. The alternative option isn't necessarily a competitor. It could be a situation. Like with this example, leaving my home for 3 hours just to buy lettuce was a less desirable option to getting a delivery service to bring the lettuce to me. Because I'm currently busy, and even if I can give 3 hours to go buy lettuce at a market 45 mins away, it's time I don't want to give. The same could be done with your business and your ideal customers/clients. ➡️ Start by first knowing who your customers are. ➡️ What they value ➡️ What they want ➡️ What is stopping them from getting what they want. ▶️ Then highlight the problem they are facing. Knowing who your customers are and what they are going through isn't enough, you gotta tell them that you know who they are, you hear their cries and you got the solution to their pains. Sometimes what your customers are going through is not a problem that they've deemed a problem worthy of a solution. But you telling them that what they have been doing is more tedious, more time consuming, more undesirable than what you offer, then you'll get their attention. #branding #marketing #strategy
