“There’s nothing like this on the Front Range” - Jeff Hindman’s first reaction to Canyon Pines (Sandy gave it the 🐾 of approval too!) Here’s what we loved: 🌿 Inspired by the land: From complementing the landscape to minimizing blasting, Canyon Pines homes will respect and embrace the natural terrain and wildlife. 🏡 Architectural diversity: Each home, a unique masterpiece by top architects, tailored to its specific lot. A vision of unity in distinctiveness. 🌳 Vast open spaces: Canyon Pines prioritizes natural living. Open spaces and backcountry-style trails seamlessly connect every home to sweeping vistas overlooking Denver, Boulder, and Golden. ♻️ Sustainability as a guiding principle: More than homes, they’re statements. Designed with a focus on passive house principles, local materials, and eco-friendly practices. Thanks so much for showing us around Debra Wyatte! We have the feeling we’ll be back very soon. This is going to be a very special place for sure. #sustainabledevelopment #coloradohomes

We’re excited to see Hobsons Bay City Council has released the Forest Street Pop-Up Place Idea for consultation. This initiative is part of the 'Better Places Spotswood and South Kingsville' program that aims to provide a more holistic and integrated approach to thinking about and designing for future-looking change into the future in these neighbourhoods and actively involving the community in the process of shaping the places they live in. Our urban design, landscape architecture and transport teams were proud to contribute to the program, preparing two Spotswood projects ‒ the 'Streets for People’ and 'Hudsons Road Streetscape Masterplan’ ‒ in which we envisioned Forest Street and Hudsons Road intersection as a central gathering public open space for the community. The Forest Street Pop-Up Place Idea showcases tactical urbanism which not only creates a better community, sense of belonging and, engaged neighbourhood, but also tests how the community might use this space and how this potential transformation may succeed with more permanent features. Whether there is a full or partial road closure for vehicles, bench areas, or more vegetation, tactical urbanism allows councils to test features before making big decisions for urban infrastructure improvements. If you're interested in participating in Spotswood's future and want to play a part in its evolution, we invite you to visit the website here > https://ow.ly/W58250T4Fwj Ariel Utz & Ben Krastins #ratio #fosteringchange #urbandesign #spotswood #tacticalurbanism #transportplanning

Urban Design is an important discipline within McLennan Design, as it is within Perkins&Will as a whole. We took a moment to honor some of the books and manifesto’s that have informed our practice over the years from Jason F. McLennan’s personal collection While some of these date back to the 1960’s and 1970’s - they all still resonate today in different ways… Jane Jacobs, William H. Whyte, Christopher Alexander, Ian McHarg and many others, continue to influence our thinking of how to create great urban places and masterplans. Wynwood, known for its unique blend of repurposed industrial charm and vibrant urban culture, is now at a critical juncture. The proposed Live Local Act looms large, potentially opening the floodgates to towering developments that defy the carefully crafted regulations that have defined our neighborhood's character. This legislation could pave the way for projects like Bazbaz Development's 48-story tower, a stark departure from the current 12-story limit set by the Wynwood Neighborhood Revitalization District rules. Such changes threaten to overwhelm our narrow streets with increased traffic and infrastructure demands, jeopardizing the very essence of what makes Wynwood a thriving community. #compassrealestate #realestate #luxuryrealestate #agentsofcompass #compass #realestateagent #compasseverywhere #realtor #architecture #luxuryhomes #condo

Tactical urbanism transforms underused parking spaces or sections of streets using lightweight and cost-effective materials. In many cases, the projects are planned in stages; Demonstration, Pilot, Interim, and Permanent. TerraCast® planters are widely utilized in many tactical urbanism projects in major cities like New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and many more. A benefit that adds value to our planters is the ability to transform the planters utilized as lightweight options in the early stages to heavier permanent structures during the final implementation stage. Complimented with concrete blocks, tables, and chairs, the planters offer flexibility, as they can be filled with soil and/or rocks for a more standard-weight, permanent application. Discover how our products can be incorporated into each stage of tactical urbanism projects: https://conta.cc/3IVmGxe

What a great article ⬇ Some interesting insights into how we should all be thinking about our 'play spaces'. As developers we have a responsibility to make sure we think about the needs, wants and desires of the community we are creating, so why not become innovators and visionaries?! 🤷♀️
In celebration of #parksweek2024, we're highlighting the innovators shaping our parks and public spaces. 👏 Our first feature is an interview with Meghan Talarowski, PLA, ASLA, CPSI a renowned public space practitioner and the visionary behind Studio Ludo. With degrees in architecture and landscape architecture, Meghan, a certified playground safety inspector, has been instrumental in shaping parks across the United States since 2008. Here are our top 3 takeaways: ◾ Play evolves beyond childhood, and as designers, it's our responsibility to support and enhance play in public spaces. ◾ Swings remain universally popular across all ages, and building larger ones (for 30 people!) draws a diverse crowd. ◾ Playgrounds aren't just for children; half of the users are all ages. We need to start prioritising intergenerational design. Explore Meghan's insights, her journey, and Studio Ludo's innovative work in our Q&A.
