Oy, this is a tough one: what do people always want to pick your brain about? This really boils down to: how can we be open and supportive while also protecting our assets? When I launched wyldmynd., a friend asked for some time to talk about an event they had in mind. Being a champion of people doing things that bring joy - and loving what I do, I offered to chat. As is often the case, they had no idea everything that goes into making an event successful, and ultimately wanted more than a "brain picking". Long story short, they were anticipating a large profit on the event, and as compensation for my time, effort, and expertise, offered to link to the wyldmynd website "to get the word out" to their small audience about my new endeavor. I let them know we were available for hire. When asking to "pick someone's brain" make sure you don't take advantage of their generosity of spirit. Our time & expertise have value. Let's respect each other's value.
