Bananatex®’s Hannes Schoenegger’s contribution on the panel 'Delivering True Circularity' reveals the hidden costs of cheap materials: "When you buy a polyester fabric for $2, then this is the price but not the cost. The cost will be paid by the next generation [who needs to be] getting microplastics out of the ocean or the bloodstream." He advocates for systemic changes, such as taxing virgin plastics and CO2 emissions, to drive responsible material choices.
