The stakes are so incredibly high when a partner chooses to make a lateral move and when a law firm chooses to add that lateral partner. That is why this article by Lauren Krasnow, JD, PCC is such an important read. For both the partner and the firm to find a successful, long-term match, start with the premise that “new laterals know nothing about your firm” and aren’t sure what they should ask, when it’s appropriate to ask it and who they should ask it of. Spoiler alert: There needs to be overcommunication in every aspect of this new relationship to grow it successfully (and to avoid its demise).
