Acabando capítulo de libro titulado: "Videojuegos y migración: Reflejando complejas realidades" escrito junto a Cecilia Estrada Villaseñor para la editorial Tirant lo Blanch. En él analizamos 3 videojuegos que representan tres enfoques, contextos y estilos distintos cuando se trata de videojuegos relacionados con la migración. Uno de ellos es Bury me my Love, creado por The Pixel Hunt en 2019, cuenta la historia de una refugiada siria llamada Nour, cuando emprende un peligroso viaje desde Siria al lugar que cree seguro para su refugio. Su objetivo es llegar a Alemania. Esta novela interactiva basada en texto no tiene una forma correcta o incorrecta de jugar y cuenta con 19 finales diferentes, tentando al usuario a realizar múltiples repeticiones para ver los diferentes resultados. La narrativa cuenta la situación que enfrentan los refugiados todos los días, desentrañando esta historia a través de personajes para que, aunque sea brevemente, ponga al jugador en el lugar de aquellos que están directamente afectados por el conflicto. Aunque la mayor parte del tiempo el jugador es un observador, ocasionalmente se pone en el lugar de Majd, el marido de Nour, que debe aconsejarle que debe hacer: Elegir entre llevar un chaleco salvavidas o botellas de agua adicionales para utilizar en el barco, cuánto dinero debe llevar, que debe decir, etc. https://lnkd.in/dtkyEAdj

21 September marked the International Day of Peace, a day that represents more than just a symbolic occasion — it’s a call to action for people worldwide to foster understanding, kindness, and cooperation. In line with this, we’d like to take this week to showcase what we are doing across our core offices to contribute to a more peaceful and connected world. First up is our collaboration with The Non-Violence Project and Youth Realities, a powerful youth-led domestic violence organisation. We teamed up to launch our Podcast Programme in London, an initiative designed to empower young women by teaching them how to create their own podcasts — from initial planning all the way through to post-production. In addition to the podcasting process, the programme featured peace-building workshops that explored the concepts of conflict and peace through various lenses: personal, community, and global. These sessions encouraged the young women to reflect on how peace can be fostered in everyday life and emphasised the importance of understanding and healthy relationships. Throughout the programme, participants developed technical skills, learning everything from recording to content planning, while also gaining valuable insights into conflict resolution. By the end, the young women had recorded their own podcast episodes on the complexities of relationship dynamics, using their voices to shed light on these critical issues. This initiative exemplifies our commitment to RE-Thinking Community, creating opportunities for growth, self-expression, and peace. We’re incredibly proud of the meaningful work accomplished through this collaboration and the lasting impact it will have on these young women as they continue to build their futures. A huge thank you to Youth Realities, The Non-Violence Project and Studio Eight for helping make it all possible. NEW EPISODE. Ella Saltmarshe of The Long Time Project, Intern-Narratives and more on 'what can we do in these Powerful Times?' We recorded this interview on 31 October 2023, only a few weeks into the Isreal-Gaza conflict. Anyone who follows Ella’s work will have seen her recent focus on that conflict. For the start of any International Women’s Day events, she suggested people use some acknowledgements. This one spoke to me in particular: “Before we start, let’s take a moment to acknowledge and remember the extreme suffering and terror experienced by women in Gaza, Israel and the west bank over recent months. The 195 women killed by Hamas on October 7th, the at least 14 female hostages still remaining in Gaza.  The 8,570 (and growing number of) Palestinian women who have been killed by Israel. The 5500 women who are due to give birth in Gaza over the next month with no medical facilities, with 40% of those pregnancies classified as high risk. May our actions contribute to their safety." May we support each other in working for an immediate ceasefire. As women, may we demonstrate what international solidarity looks like, today and everyday.“ Our conversation focused on the role of culture and narrative in helping us transition to a regenerative future. We are really messy, irrational, emotional creatures. So we need to be working at the level of emotions. And the word emotion, the origin of the work is the word is from the Latin move, irate and move. Things that move us emotionally are stories. In particular, Ella is focused on nurturing cultures that have stewardship at their core, and therefore is asking what infrastructure is needed to enable us to cultivate stewardship at scale?
