📖 Today is National Read Across America Day! “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”- Dr. Seuss The annual event, celebrated on March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss, is an initiative on reading created by the National Education Association. 5 Tips to inspire reading for your child: 📖 Strategically keep books everywhere you spend time. Kids are more often to engage with things when it's "their own idea". Put them in the car, in every room of the house, and tuck them in backpacks and purses. Make them easily accessible to they're more likely to pick them up. 📖 Visit the library often. Libraries provide more than just access to books. Find you local library's schedule of events to increase the literacy skills of your child! 📖 Show then that YOU like reading. Children imitate what they see the adults around them do. Whether they see you read a magazine, newspaper, or novel, it will leave an impression. 📖 Read to your children. No matter their age, reading aloud strengthens their vocabulary and language skills. It also opens up opportunities for discussion. 📖 Have your children read to you, too. This provides a chance to both praise their skills and help them through reading challenges.
