The Precisionists, Inc. (TPI) team is proudly celebrating #WorldDownSyndromeDay2024 at work today!! #rockyoursocks is in full swing. Why do we #rockyoursocks on 3/21? Well because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Why socks? Because the karyotype of Down syndrome chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks! Thank you Down Syndrome Association of Delaware for spreading awareness and joy today, and for all you do for the Down syndrome community!

Award winning Speech-Language Pathologist at Speech-Language Pathology Associates of SC | Highly skilled in treating adults with mild Traumatic Brain Injury, oral myofunctional disorders, aphasia, and dysphagia
🗣️ **We Didn't Win the Race, But We Gained Something More Valuable!** 🗣️ True statement: Rehabilitation from Traumatic Brain Injury is hard work. Another true statement: Cognitive rehabilitation is probably the most difficult therapy for traumatic brain injury because success isn’t measured by perfection. We talk a lot about winning. Everyone wants to win. Family, friends, and fans want their loved one to win. But we talk about winning doesn’t mean perfect. It’s about setting realistic goals and meeting them. WIN – What’s Important Now What’s important now is that in every challenge lies an opportunity for growth, learning, and improvement. 🌟 **Progress**: Every small step forward is a victory. Our clients’ dedication and hard work are what truly drive success. Just making the effort counts as success in most clients’ cases. 🌟 **Patience**: The path to improvement is a journey, not a sprint. We celebrate each milestone, no matter how small. It might be that guy, who is mostly unable to participate in his environment, turns his head to me and makes a noise when I say “hey.” Or it might be that woman who went to the grocery store and didn’t leave because she finally remembered what she went there to get. 🌟 **Support**: The encouragement from families, friends, and therapists is invaluable. Together, we create a strong support system that empowers our clients. Thank you to everyone who supports our mission of raising awareness for traumatic brain injury and honoring the veterans we serve. We're more motivated than ever to continue making meaningful progress. Thank you David Pack and 🏁PACK RACING🏁 for giving us something to help us process some big feelings. I hope you’ll get to see on Wednesday how much of an impact you’re making! www.slpassociatesofsc.com

At work, Jennifer Grindeland ‘s relationships deteriorated as she recovered from back-to-back traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). In this episode, she shares what that experience was like for her, and what happened next: www.beyond6seconds.net/204 Image description: A quote from Jenn: “People tended to be really supportive and understanding for the first 4 to 6 weeks of my experience after a brain injury. Then after that, questions start to appear: why aren't you better yet? When are you going to be back to normal? Why aren't you contributing the way that you used to?” #NeurodiversityAtWork #NeurodiversityAcceptance #BrainInjury #TBI #HiddenDisability #InvisibleDisability #InclusionAtWork #DisabilityInclusion

Hi, my name is Nakkiah, and I'm disabled. I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) - among other physical and mental/emotional disabilities. May is Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes Awareness Month, so I wanted to take the time to make this post! The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a group of heritable connective tissue disorders that vary in how they affect the body and their genetic causes. 🧬 EDS weakens connective tissues (the proteins that support skin, bones, blood vessels, and other organs). My EDS affects my skin, joints, and blood vessel walls. My joints are loose and dislocate often; I have fragile, small blood vessels and veins; my scar formation is abnormal and my body sucks at wound healing; and I have soft, velvety, stretchy skin that bruises easily. There is no cure - my life is spent learning how to protect my skin and joints + prevent injuries. When I taught at Kinky Kollege Homecoming 2023, I was using a cane by the end of the night Saturday and had to use it all day Sunday. My friend Rogue Rayn came to me at the end of KKH 2023 and asked if they could make a cane for me. WELL, Y'ALL, HERE IT IS! AND LEMME TELL YOU! I cried so hard when they gave it to me this past Kinky Kollege Spring Break 2024. It's more beautiful than I could've ever imagined. Words cannot begin to express how much this cane means to me. Rogue said it best themself, "You can use a cane and still be a badass." Thank you so much, Rogue! I do not have any words to adequately express my gratitude. 📸 Credit: Phoenix Photo at Kinky Kollege Spring Break 2024 (March 22-24, 2024) #EhlersDanlosSyndrome #EDS #EDSAwareness #ChronicPain #MobilityAid #DisabilityAwareness

This week's #resilience mascot is... US! Human bodies are fascinatingly resilient. Our brains can recover naturally from trauma, we can survive without one kidney, and our livers can regenerate after an injury. Just as the millions of cells in our bodies work together to keep us going, #BCM professionals and everyone they influence can create a wonderfully resilient and regenerative structure! https://lnkd.in/e6rztTTQ

"Is Trauma and Stress Holding You Back? Neurological disorganization, or switching, can result from various types of trauma—physical, emotional, or chemical—or extreme stress. This condition disrupts the brain's ability to accurately convey congruence through the body. In the animal kingdom, a hurt deer may switch to prevent appearing lame and vulnerable to predators.
