One thing we all have in common is that we fail. Despite this, being comfortable with our failures is one of the hardest things we’ll ever do. Every month, Fuckup Nights Toronto invites three courageous people to share their story of professional failure. 10 minutes, 10 slides, followed by a Q @ A with the audience. The October event featured these brave souls: 💡 Juliana Casale, founder of Balloon 🎈 Sparkling Water 💡 Lucy Cullen of Lucy Cullen Co. and Executive in Residence 💡 Charles Bern of Charles Bern Inc. and Agilno The audience is invited to share their own stories on the infamous Fuck Up Wall for all to see. Some lucky people (including yours truly) got invited to the stage mid-event to tell the story they put up. What is Fuckup Nights? A speaker’s series and community in 62 different countries all over the world, whose mandate is to use failure as a tool for individual and organizational growth. Failure is not a wrongdoing or a character flaw but a teacher, and only by encouraging difficult and vulnerable conversations can we get to the place we are really meant to be. The Toronto iteration of this event was founded and has been run monthly since 2017 by Marsha Druker. Needless to say, I am now a fan of hers and look forward to many more FuckUp Nights to come. Samantha Osaduke, James Becke, and Jackson Mullins, it was awesome to connect with you and I hope I see you at the next one! FIND OUT MORE: #follow Fuckup Nights Toronto on LinkedIn and Eventbrite to get notified about upcoming events in Toronto. WANNA GO?? Fuckup Nights Toronto Vol. LVI is happening next on Thursday, November 21 at Blue Moon Brewery @ Stackt. Co-Founder of Munq, Adjunct Professor | Building brand stories that connect | Bridging the entrepreneurial gap for Gen Z
Munq is officially having our first event (ever) and you are invited! We are partnering with Venture X Worcester to host a welcome event/celebration on Thursday March 21st, from 5:30 - 7:30PM. The event will be held at Venture X on the 4th Floor in the Mercantile Center on 100 Front Street, Worcester MA. Over the past three years, Justin Matsen and I have talked about having an event like this one. This year, we finally committed to it. We wanted the chance to show off our new space with our network while also taking the opportunity to celebrate our growth and achievements thus far. Our motto this year is "make Munq more accessible". Hosting an event is a natural first step to what we hope will be many more ways to do that. This is our first, so you can only imagine the chaos that will ensue...but here's some concrete things you can expect: 1) 2000's hits only (life was better back then and we should just admit it) 2) Catering done by food that doesn't suck (no one wants a cheese platter) 3) You are strictly prohibited from asking others "What do you do?" this question is awkward and deserving of punitive consequences. 4) A speech from yours truly that will get you so fired up you will want to run through a wall Overall...we have an AMAZING network of clients, connections, family and friends. It's about time we got everyone under one roof to connect with one another and celebrate the beautiful growth here at Munq! That and we can't wait to show you the gorgeous co-working space we've found ourselves in. If you are already our friends, haven't met us in person yet or are someone in the Worcester area who is interested...you are invited. A special thank you to Nicole W. for partnering with us and opening up Venture X to our network. She is the main reason that Downtown truly feels like home to us. If you plan on coming - sign up using the Eventbrite link below! This way we can get an accurate headcount in preparing food and drinks. If you happen to make it, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the show of support. We can't wait to see you there! (You're gonna come....right?) #entrepreneurship #event #creativeagency

It's not just a fun vacay—it's a smart move that can seriously boost your business. Here's what I learned after traveling to 7 US states and 4 International countries to promote my business CROWNED & DC YOUTH VENTURES: Test The Market: Every city and state has its own vibe, people, and economy. By spreading your wings, you're dipping into all sorts of markets. That means you get to see if your idea clicks with different crowds. Fresh Insights: Trying out your venture in new locations means getting real, raw feedback from potential customers. They might see things you hadn't even thought about! This direct feedback helps you tweak your venture to match what people REALLY want. Spy on the Competition: Hitting the Road lets you check out what other youth entrepreneurs are up to. You'll see what works/what doesn't, if your product is unique, and spot some gaps in the market that you can fill. Make Connections: Meeting other teenprenuers, investors, and experts in different cities can lead to awesome partnerships and chances to take your venture to the next level. Plus, the friends you make along the way can be key players in your biz journey. Shine Bright: Taking your venture on tour is like turning up the spotlight on your brand. Building StartupNews.fyi | Over a Million reach on Insta | 7 International Delegations | Media Partnerships with TOP Global Exhibitors & Events | 18K+ WhatsApp Members | 340 Startup Meetups....and Counting :-)
#StartupNetworkingMixers: #Game, #Myth, #Reality, and #TheBusiness Everyone everywhere is organising mixers, I thought after organising 350+ Mixers I should share my 2 cent 🚀 #TheGame Startup networking mixers are designed to connect entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts. These events provide a platform for startups to pitch ideas, share experiences, and build valuable connections. The game here involves strategic networking, where attendees aim to form partnerships, secure funding, and gain industry insights…..add your thoughts below in comments #TheMyth A common myth is that merely attending these mixers guarantees success…I know most of us know this but we still somehow feel and looks for success …isn’t ? … infact most of attendees responded while we were doing the survey that showing up and handing out business cards will automatically lead to investments and partnerships….yes thatts what most of attendees believed 🙈🙈…. This misconception lead to disappointment and then … mixers to Bekar hain (it’s all useless) however the real success requires effort, follow-up, and genuine engagement beyond just initial introductions. #TheReality Startup networking mixers are as effective as the effort put into them. Success depends on preparation, clear communication, and the ability to build meaningful relationships. The true value of these events often lies in long-term connections and insights rather than immediate deals. Entrepreneurs must approach these mixers with realistic expectations and a commitment to nurturing the relationships formed… and not to forget follow-ups is the key right after the mixer 🚀🚀 #TheBusiness There is too much of business in these mixers if you do regular follow-ups right after the mixer and the meeting as many attendees as you can so that layer you can check who’s the right fit for support, for business, for funding, for mentorship Organising such mixers and making a lot of money out from it is however tough, you might get sponsorship for couple of mixers but sponsors look for leads and more high quality branding, which somehow is tough if not managed properly These are my takeaways … looking forward for your inputs and addons in this

Business Consultant, LinkedIn Sales & Marketing Strategist. I help multi 6 & 7-figure Founders & CEOs expand their authority, access, $, and impact through values-aligned community of BIPOC + allies for social good. 🇵🇭
From LinkedIn connections to real-life bonds 💛 Earlier this week my team and I had the pleasure of hosting Gather & Connect LA with ACE NextGen SoCal at Arts District Brewing Company. Let me tell you, this was not just an event; it was a transformational gathering of unity, diversity, and entrepreneurial spirit. It was truly heartwarming to see internet buddies meeting IRL, turning virtual likes into real-life hugs and handshakes, along with new friendships blossoming before our very eyes. But it wasn’t just about making friends. It was also about planting the seeds for future partnerships among entrepreneurs who share the same values. In a world that's increasingly digital, the power of face-to-face interaction is unmatched. It’s the spark that ignites collaboration, fosters trust, and fuels long-term relationships. Didn’t get a chance to attend? Fear not. The journey of connection continues. Join our email list to stay tuned for more events where you can meet your next collaborator, mentor, or friend 👉🏽 https://lnkd.in/gHqk_ypK #BIPOC #entrepreneurship #community #networking #event

Shark Tank brought the world of business pitching to the front seat of American households, showcasing the thrill of striking lucrative deals with celebrity investors. But let's be honest, the primary focus has always been on how the Sharks can make money from the contestants' businesses. At The Pitch Show, we're doing things differently. We believe that entrepreneurship isn't just about massive profits or becoming a big-time company. It's about people like you and me – with bills to pay, families to support, and dreams to kick start. Unlike Shark Tank, where the focus is on marketability and quick investments, The Pitch Show emphasizes community and genuine support. Our contestants aren't just pitching to wealthy investors; they're sharing their ideas with a supportive audience that votes on who wins the prize money. It's not just about a "Yes" or "No" – it's about constructive feedback, encouragement, and building confidence. With food and drinks, a live band, and audience prizes, The Pitch Show transforms the traditional business pitch into a fun and engaging experience. Our participants aren't your typical entrepreneurs – they’re your next-door neighbor, the guy in the next cubicle, the woman buying groceries. They’re real people who are making or doing something to improve their world. If you want to grow your entrepreneurship skills or help support other entrepreneurs, join us at the next Pitch Show this Wednesday, August 21st, at Sour Mouse on the Lower East Side. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and tickets are available now. Journalists, send me a direct message for a free press pass! Let's show that there's a better way to bring business ideas to life. 📣 Founders Forum with Michiel Muller – Scaling secrets unveiled 📣 Last week, we hosted the third session of our Founders Forum series. This program is designed to foster founder-to-founder connections and learn from the best. We kicked off the day with an exclusive Q&A session with Michiel Muller, Founder of Picnic Technologies, moderated by one of our own, Auke van den Hout. His insights sparked a great discussion as he shared his entrepreneurial journey with Tango and Picnic, sharing practical examples of lessons learned along the way. Michiel emphasized the transformative impact of combining advertising and PR, as well as the importance of maintaining cohesion within a company amid growth. Additionally, he highlighted the role of data-driven decision-making: “Scaling is crucial but keeping your data in check is even more important.” After the Q&A session, we continued with a peer-to-peer session, where a select group of founders engaged in meaningful discussions about the challenges they encountered and exchanged valuable insights. We were excited to welcome a new moderator, Saskia van Walsum, and welcome back Tim de Zeeuw to facilitate the forum. We would like to thank our portfolio founders for joining our event, and extend a special thank you to our guests of honor: Michiel Muller, Saskia van Walsum, & Tim de Zeeuw. Interested in reading more about the valuable insights that Michiel shared? One of a founder's greatest resources is building a network, but the reality is live events are costly to plan and execute, often making them out of reach for early-stage brands. The NEXT Grant Program is meant to help ease some of the financial conflict between attending industry events and paying expenses. Scott Gurfein, Founder of SKYEFOX VENTURES - SFXV and Brand-OS, has partnered with us this year, underwriting the cost of bringing eight start-up founders to Los Angeles to attend our NEXT Summit. In addition, this year the Independent Beauty Association will provide the eight grant recipients a year of membership—an invaluable resource for independent businesses in the beauty ecosystem. REQUIREMENTS: This program is available for early-stage start-ups with less than $1 million in revenue. THE GRANT: 1 ticket to attend the BeautyMatter NEXT Dinner and Summit (value $2,499) 2 hotel nights at The Hoxton, Downtown Los Angeles, CA (estimated value $700) 1-year Professional Membership to the BeautyMatter platform (value $1,250) 1-year Independent Beauty Association (IBA) Membership (value $545) 1-year mentorship program Learn more about this year's NEXT grant program: https://lnkd.in/eZjXy6fb #BeautyMatter #BMNEXT2024 #grantprogram #beautybusiness #beautyindustry #entrepreneurship
