Deadly heat waves worsen existing inequities, hitting #BIPOC and low-income communities hardest with higher electric bills and increased health risks. This is the result of decades of disinvestment, neglect, and economic barriers that have prevented these communities from building resilience to the worsening impacts of climate change. We cannot accept this as the new normal. #CA has a responsibility to proactively invest in the communities at greatest risk to ensure they can withstand the increasingly devastating consequences of climate change. https://lnkd.in/gKUQ-zQk

Heat, and heat absorption in to buildings will become more of a problem as we suffer longer hotter summers. The university college, London has recently published a study outlining the fact that HiReflective painted roof surfaces is more effective at cooling cities than “green roofs”, street level vegetation or solar panels. The department of energy has tested heat reflective wall coatings and proven that they reduce cooling costs and peak cooling load in every climate they tested throughout the USA. Surely it’s worth discussing the use of heat reflective coatings (which cost little more than ordinary paint) to help those most exposed to the effects of climate change?
