🌐 Last week a GC3B session took place at Microsoft's European Cyber Agora #ECA24! It explored the intricacies of mainstreaming cyber resilience for development, including the difficulty of embedding #cybersecurity into development processes. The #GC3B's mission is to bridge this gap and translate this need for cybersecurity onto the agenda. We are grateful for the valuable insights of the speakers, who are key experts in the field: - Irene Grohsmann (Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs) - Nikolas Ott (Microsoft) - Helen Popp (European External Action Service) - Galia Nurko (Global Cyber Alliance) - Nayia Barmpaliou (Cyber Lab International) - Tereza Horejsova (Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE) We look forward to leveraging their insights at the #GC3B25! 👏

This was an excellent panel discussion with former The White House National Cyber Director Kemba Walden, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Deputy Director Nitin Natarajan, Akamai Technologies's Mani Sundaram National Cyber Security Centre's Marsha Quallo-Wright and Australian Signals Directorate's Stephanie Crowe. This was all about about leveraging multiple levers, inside and outside government, build our collective cybersecurity resilience. A great point by Kemba was the need for things like "trusted capital", leveraging the community of investors and VCs to commit to enforcing minimum cyber security standards in the companies in which they invest. Nitin also shared that these conversations need to be not just the domain of the CISO and CIO but also the CEO and board. The more companies understand and incorporate cyber security risk into the broader business risk, the more favorable security outcomes we'll see as the result of better company prioritization and investment. Dr Quallo-Wright also shared the understated but important observation that, given the nature and expanding scope of attacks and the rapidly evolving connective tissue of technology we rely on daily, the definition of what "critical" is in "critical national infrastructure" is changing and expanding. More businesses of all sizes are finding themselves in the crosshairs of cyber attacks from a variety of actors. As the cyber security community in private sector and government, we have an obligation to help them understand their risks and address them appropriately. Lots of great commentary and insight. #CyberUK is always such a treat and this year was no exception. #cyberuk24
At Cyber UK 2024, Deputy Director Nitin Natarajan stressed the importance of a true partnership between industry and government, and how collaboration with international partners strengthens our collective #resilience. “We’re no longer selling the need for cybersecurity,” said Natarajan. “We understand the value of public-private partnership in tackling cyber threats and need to find the right combination of regulations to establish baseline security and creating incentive options to promote investment in the security and resilience of our critical systems” Global problems require global solutions, and we’re proud to partner with international organizations like the National Cyber Security Centre to strengthen our collective defense.

Text taken directly from the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) guide, "Mitigating Cyber Threats with Limited Resources: Guidance for Civil Society," released today, May 14. "According to industry reporting, state-sponsored targeting of high-risk communities predominantly emanates from the governments of Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea. Actors typically perform extensive pre-operational research to learn about potential victims, gather information to support social engineering, or obtain login credentials. Actors target organization networks or personal accounts (e.g., email) and devices of individuals for surveillance and monitoring, often via spyware applications —malicious software that collects data from affected devices."
