Chapter 2: Exploring How could our creative and production help a brand? Well we built this for social media and there are so many layers to a platform like that. Some will have looked at this and see the four easter eggs in it. To them, they may love it and want to know more. They may have also seen them, noticed it and promptly forgot or not cared to find out more. And thats okay. We have built it to be present, and show off some of the 'cool' things we can do as a studio! We are certainly happy with that. Do we hope respective clients look at it and think, 'damn they're a bunch of seriously creative people'....well that would also be nice, obviously! But we don't expect it...because the very real situation at the moment is you need to highlight independently why each client needs you directly, through adapting their own work. How does this edit show what we can do as a creative agency? In so so many ways. However, is it evident to respective clients? Now that is the question, and we would argue (against our own work) no. What we would like any respective client to see however is the levels of detail and depth we go into...because THAT is what we would offer them and that's what makes us different. Not everyone is going to understand why you have done something and what you are doing it for. But stay true to your own self belief. This is an admirable and long overdue initiative. However, as it stands, it is more a cry for justice than an actual solution. For real change to happen #Advertisers must be made to understand that the current “free” approach to calling a pitch is NOT in their best interests. Furthermore, the industry needs a new pitch process that allows: 1) Advertisers to find the right long-term #agency partner, at a fair and sustainable level of compensation. 2) Agencies to participate in pitches without dedicating huge resources to the pitch, and without having to do “free” strategy or creative work. Think Catalyst LLC has developed an “Optimal Pitch Management” program that resolves the issues and works for both Advertiser and Agency. No more “one-night stands” for Advertisers and no more “giving away my work" for Agencies. Not every new service you launch as an agency will work — and that’s fine. Sometimes a service just won’t have enough interest, or your company doesn’t have the capacity to deliver at the level your clients expect. At Barrel, we once launched “Studio B” where we offered content creation services for our clients: photo shoots, video shoots, social content, etc. After a year or so of trying very hard, we scrapped the offering because: x We didn’t have enough volume of opportunities to justify our costs and staffing x Our clients weren’t 100% sure we were the right partners to execute although many gave us a chance x The quality of our work was good but not mind-blowingly great enough to drive referrals x We made a lot of inexperienced mistakes that eroded profit margins It was painful to shut it all down, but it also freed us up to focus again on our core competencies. It also taught us that it’s okay to experiment and try things, but also be willing to cut losses when the momentum and upside just aren't there anymore. --- Anyone have any similar stories/experiences to share?

With how advanced the technology is today, it's never been easier to create content for your brand/business! In few minutes you can create a basic post! Now, with that being said, a lot of people may not have the time, energy or skills to do it. They may run out of ideas later on... Why we don’t give our creative ideas away for free... I've been seeing more posts recently from people in the creative industries venting their (understandable) frustrations about being ghosted after sharing their ideas and pitch decks with prospective clients. It’s a familiar story, where people put hours into a pitch only to never hear back from the prospective client again. At Fettle Digital we believe in the value of our creative, and that's why we don't give away our ideas for free. When it comes to multi-agency pitches we don't get involved unless there’s a pitch fee involved.
