I have read a ton of commentary and news related to the #crowdstrike update outage and I just hope that all the companies affected are giving a ton of thanks, love and gratitude to their workplace engineering, help/service desk and security teams. Having led teams through major incidents such as this I can honestly say there is nothing worse then cleaning up someone else's mess and not being appreciated for it. If you have a limited PTO policy (like 3 weeks a year etc.) consider giving these teams a few extra days off. Make sure that they are eating while they are performing this work - perhaps send a DoorDash card to assist with that and finally if you are in a leadership position help divide the work so everyone can take a break. Standing with your team now is the most important thing. Thank you to all the "boots on the ground" IT folks doing the needful this weekend. #hugops #gratitude #serviceleadership

DoorDash, now a giant, began with a simple web page. They started by delivering food from local restaurants, their only income from a $6 delivery fee. They lived by "do things that don't scale," learning every detail by doing deliveries themselves. Their application to Y Combinator was a leap of faith. They were accepted, despite doubts, growing from just 217 deliveries. Y Combinator taught them, "do all the things," guiding their growth. They even bought a house to work from, trying to appear like a real company. DoorDash's success came from prioritizing merchants, dashers, and customers. A $200 million investment supports local businesses, proving their commitment. Despite challenges, they've become a top food delivery service. Keep this in mind: start small, dream big, and work hard. The journey of DoorDash is a testament to where determination can lead. Stay dedicated to your vision. ---------------------------------------------- If you like this, share ♻️ with others and subscribe to our Newsletter. Head Content Excellence EPISTA LS ♾, Founder Closing Delta🔺️Consultant, Pharma Specialist, Public Speaker & SaaS Evangelist 😇. All views are my own.
There are some movies that just stay with you. This was one of them.🤔 A little gem on Netflix that is called Founder. If you haven't seen it, check it out. It is the story of the birth of McDonald's and its beautifully told. The mrs and I both went away with a feeling of this wasn't right but without it we wouldn't have McDonald's as we know it, a global phenomenon. Ray the lead character, says, persistence above all else. Not just talent, not hard work, not intellect. We felt bad for Dick and Mac and the first ever stand in San Bernedino and how it all panned out even with contracts to try and stop this sort of thing from happening. However what Ray Kroc did is nothing short of genius from a chance encounter in a bank, close to being packed up and done to making it what it is today. We are not in the burger 🍔 business they said. We are in the real estate business. That changed everything. One small tweak and a whole new history. A market cap of $240bn. In a 100 countries. Coming into 2024, ask yourself this ? What business are you in, no really what business are you in? You dont need golden arches to know that you have arrived. Because when you do you will know. Well, you know the rest 🔺️ #pharma #content #founder PS: Image is sourced from rotten tomatoes, copyright is of the respective owners and image is in the public domain.

On its last earnings call, Wendy's CEO had dropped the idea of a dynamic pricing initiative and the company was spending $20 million to further the concept. Essentially, it was following Uber's lead of charging more during peak times. The fact Wendy's had committed significant resources to this idea shows it was more than a passing thought. The plan would involve the electronic menus changing prices at various times throughout the day. The idea is pure supply and demand that fuels every other market and business. Thus, on paper, it was actually a great idea. It works for Uber which is maybe where Wendy's management got the idea. What was missing from the equation, common sense. Buying a hamburger at noon is far different than getting in an Uber from LaGuardia at 5 pm. There is competition for the lunch dollar - whereas a ride during rush hour is limited to Uber, Lyft and taxis. But somewhere within Wendy's this idea had legs and the CEO was thrilled to mention it during an earnings call. As a reputational hit to Wendy's this will be a blip and quickly forgotten. The reason, Wendy's listened to the criticism and quickly dialed back. Other companies might have doubled-down. Well done, Wendy's. A lesson here: When wrong admit it quickly, and move on. Another point: when ideas come from the top down, does your company have a culture that encourages employees to provide input from the bottom up? I'm thinking a smart Wendy's employee somewhere had doubts. #wendys #reputationmanagement #earningscall #supplyanddemand
