The Public Benefits Organisations Act (PBO Act) was recently operationalised after 11 years replacing the Non-Governmental Organisations Coordination Act significantly altering the regulation of not-for-profit entities. The PBO Act is intended to revamp the regulatory framework for civil societies in Kenya to create an enabling environment for their establishment and operations. Universally, Politics or political business starts with emotion; transforms into addiction; engulfed with corruption; and ends with depressions, disgrace or assassinations/ unnatural death is the most riskful profession in the world! Politics without being biased, directly or indirectly associated with corruption and /or unethical practices and/or undue benefit, deals or privileges is just impossible as of ornaments that can not be made with pure gold ! Simply because, the fund or money donated / invested to get the politician elected by the patrons / donors do expect return/benefit and have to be honoured / paid by the politicians after coming in power to lead! So, the characteristics of politicians, therefore, COULD never be identifiable, transparent or clean having a specific color or character, should obviously be held liable to be more dangerous than that of a person or profession of bad character! Political career and/or carrier is, therefore, a journey of one way traffic AND difficult and/or impossible to drive back to the same road or route to become neutral and return to normal life!

But maybe this is true for many, and people do feel all of those things, and frankly are often dismissed or ignored by managers. At Mencap, however, one manager is doing things differently. A simple word of #Thankyou to his staff is changing hearts and attitudes. While more managers may do the same because that is "The Mencap Way" the #manager at a #carehome in Norfolk is learning the secrets to success and how to #motivate staff by, (wait for it) giving them what they want! While it's true most care workers are not paid much, and often not even in receipt of the #RealLivingWage more #money could be the answer but in fact the secret is in making staff feel #valued Much reform is still needed in the #caresector but little things DO make a big impact.
