When you work and live to meet your daily needs you simply exist without much passion or enthusiasm for life. At the same time your talents remain untapped. What an awful way to live. Surgical trainees need to strive and maximise their potential to achieve their future vision. Routine without growth should be an anathema to them. #growth

Dear LinkedIn Community 😍, I am thrilled to share with you, my SIWES defense Presentation which came up on 18th of January,2024 at the department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Ilorin, Kwara State. 💥I recently had the opportunity to present my internship defense, where I delved into the intricate workings of dialysis machine and microplate washing machine, the duo is among the various medical machines I worked on during my Student Industrial Working Experience 1 (SIWES 1) at University College Hospital (UCH) of University of Ibadan(UI) between October to December last year. It was a fulfilling experience that allowed me to showcase the knowledge and skills I've gained throughout my internship. In this reflection, I will provide an overview of my presentation and share key insights. 💥Dialysis Machine Exploration: During the presentation, I comprehensively explained the mechanisms behind dialysis machine, emphasizing their vital role in healthcare. I delved into the principles of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, shedding light on how these technologies contribute to the treatment of renal diseases. Additionally, I highlighted the importance of maintaining optimal conditions within the dialysis machine to ensure effective and safe patient care. 💥Microplate Washing Techniques: Moving on to microplate washing machine, I elucidated the significance of the process of using this machine in laboratory settings. I detailed the functionalities of microplate washer, emphasizing their crucial role in removing unbound substances during various assays. Furthermore, I discussed different washing techniques, ensuring a thorough understanding of the principles behind microplate washing and its impact on experimental outcomes. 💥Challenges and Solutions: In the course of my presentation, I addressed challenges associated with both dialysis machines and microplate washing. Whether it be technical complexities or potential issues in maintaining precision, I emphasized the importance of troubleshooting and the adoption of best practices. This provided a well-rounded perspective on the practical application of these technologies. 💥Learning and Growth: Throughout my internship, I dedicated myself to gaining in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in these areas. The presentation was not only an opportunity to showcase what I've learned but also a chance to reflect on my personal and professional growth during this period. It highlighted my ability to grasp complex concepts and effectively communicate them to an audience. 💥Gratitude and Acknowledgments: I expressed my gratitude to my mentors, Biomedical Engineers on-site and colleagues for their guidance and support throughout the internship. Their insights and feedback significantly contributed to the success of my defense presentation. I'm looking forward to utilizing the next internship opportunity. #Internship #Presentation #DialysisMachine #MicroplateWashing #LearningJourney

If as a senior surgical trainee you doubt your technical skills you stand on shaky ground and to get your confidence you need more experience. Don’t take on independent working unless you are confident in your skills. #confidence

There are three things I want to point out from this photo. Before I do, I want to give some context: Before I earned a master's degree in anatomy and physiology, I garnered OR experience while I was studying radiography and responsible for taking x-ray during surgeries. Nothing was as exciting to me as the OR. That's where "the rubber meets the road" in terms of A&P. Of course, life's path is never linear. Shortly after earning my master's, while teaching college A&P, I had to pivot and pursue opportunities that were becoming available with my part time job. (Side note: give everything 100%, you never know what opportunities may arise). My career evolved as I continued to push myself and work hard and I was able to join the leadership team with Scheels. It was an amazing experience, in which I was able to gain an overwhelming amount of business acumen and sales experience. After six years, I decided it was time to return to my passion of anatomy and physiology and helping people, and combine my academic knowledge with my professional experience. Enter Medical Sales College to help me bridge that gap and combine my two specialties. This photo was taken today as I complete week three of twelve of the 40 hour / week course. Here are my favorite things about this photo, in order: 1. Look at Andy Worth grinning ear to ear. I can't wait to be in a position to give back more and genuinely help people. That kind of smile can only come from the joy of helping others. 2. This course utilizes ortho as it's platform to teach and develop skills which will prove beneficial to any aspect of the healthcare industry. (Can anyone guess what I am practicing here?) 3. Not a bad hair day for me. #msc #medicalsalescollege #medtech #meddevice #medrep #msclife Medical Sales College

🌟 A Transformative Experience: Career Shadowing in the OR 🌟 Today, I had the remarkable opportunity to step into multiple operating rooms and shadow dedicated medical device representatives. This experience offered a profound glimpse into the world of medical device technology and its pivotal role in patient care. From the moment I arrived, I was immersed in the dynamic environment of the OR, where precision and adaptability are paramount. Observing how medical device reps navigate this high-stake setting was eye-opening. Here are a few key takeaways from my day: Navigating the Industry: I gained a deep appreciation for how medical device reps manage the complexities of their roles. They must be adept at understanding not only their own products but also how these products integrate with various surgical procedures and technologies. Their ability to stay current with industry advancements and regulatory changes is crucial. A Day in the Life: The day-to-day responsibilities of a medical device rep are both varied and demanding. From preparing for surgeries to providing real-time support in the OR, every moment requires a keen focus and thorough knowledge of the devices they represent. I saw firsthand how reps work closely with surgical teams, ensuring that each device performs flawlessly and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Adapting to Change: The medical device field is ever-evolving, and adaptability is key. I was impressed by how reps continuously learn and adapt to new devices and technologies, integrating them seamlessly into their workflows. This constant learning curve highlights their commitment to innovation and excellence in patient care. Product Mastery: It became evident that knowing the ins and outs of their products is fundamental. Reps must be experts in their devices, understanding every detail to provide accurate support and training to medical professionals. This deep product knowledge not only ensures smooth operations but also builds trust and reliability with surgical teams. I am incredibly grateful to Gina Talbert, who set up this career shadowing for me, and the entire Ascension team for their generosity in sharing their time and expertise with me. Your dedication to advancing medical technology and supporting patient outcomes is truly inspiring. Thank you for this invaluable learning experience! I’m excited to carry forward these insights and continue exploring the intersection of technology and healthcare. 🌟🔬
