Mark Puno, RN, was recognized by the The Kansas City Royals Foundation during last Friday's game as the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City Answering the Call Honoree for June. A US Army veteran, Puno has been key member of our emergency department staff for 25 years and is a mainstay at the K as part of the health system team assisting Kansas City Royals fans in first aid and as a first responder. He can also be found at CPKC Stadium and Arrowhead assisting KC Current and Kansas City Chiefs fans, as well as many other events. Congratulations, Mark!

A timely evaluation of the intersection of peer support and psychedelic therapy. The new defense bill allocates funding to provide more treatment options for those that serve in the military, specifically for promising psychedelic therapies coming through the pipeline. And, various states are looking towards creating medical programs for psychedelic therapy that will need to factor in community and cultural components to how people prefer to be supported during their healing process. https://lnkd.in/gxjXBSjq "This existing Veteran-centred psychedelic peer-support model could contribute valuable knowledge and experience to potentially implementing psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy within the VA or in community settings where psychedelic services are becoming legal in various jurisdictions in North America. Further research into existing psychedelic peer-support practices, as well as researching novel models that integrate peer support into psychedelic facilitation and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, can help address ongoing issues with access and equity in the psychedelic space."
