Thank you to all the staff, fellows, sponsors and partners that made the Inaugural Engaged Athlete Forum a reality. Our mutli-day trip to DC was educational, inspirational, and fun! At The Team… Our work is driven by the power of college athletics to effect positive change. With my own experiences rooted in sports and public engagement, I've witnessed firsthand the incredible potential of athletes, coaches, and administrators to advance civics and to be catalysts for good. The Team’s mission is clear: to integrate nonpartisan civic engagement and voter participation into the fabric of college athletics. Why? Because we believe that every individual within this community has the capacity to be more than just a player or a coach or a fan. They can be leaders, influencers, and engaged citizens who shape the future of our society. A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Partners and Contributors! The Team is deeply grateful for the incredible support and contributions that made the 2023-2024 Engaged Athlete Fellowship trip to Washington, DC a resounding success. This transformative journey in Washington, DC, would not have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of many esteemed individuals and organizations. A special thank you to our Executive Committee members, Kevin Harris, Jennifer Vernon, Craig Robinson, and David Nevins, for their invaluable insight and participation in our fellows' experience. Your continued support is deeply appreciated and will continue to transform the lives of our athletes. We are proud to extend our gratitude to the panelists at the first annual Engaged Athlete Forum held at the Microsoft Innovation & Policy Center. Felicia Martin, Brian Lockhart, Kim Stone, M.B.A., James Cadogan, Jimmy Lynn, Blair Nelson Marlin, Janice G. Brunner, Alex Lasry, Michael Strautmanis, David Sutphen, and Cally Baute, your expertise and insights enriched our discussions and inspired our fellows as they prepare for their next chapters. Thank you to the Madison Hotel for providing excellent accommodations and hospitality, to the Microsoft Innovation & Policy Center for hosting our Engaged Athlete Forum, and to Cassidy & Associates for an informative Lobbying 101 session with Devin Barrett and Kai Anderson. A special thank you to Senator Cory Booker for an engaging Q&A session, providing our fellows with a unique and memorable experience. We also appreciate everyone involved in organizing the White House Bowling and Washington Nationals Game, which provided fun and bonding activities for our fellows. Your support has been instrumental in empowering our fellows to become engaged citizens and community leaders. Together, we are harnessing the power of athletics to build great teammates, engaged citizens, and committed community members. The momentum we've built through this fellowship is only the beginning of our efforts to drive meaningful civic engagement through athletics. We are just getting started… Learn more about my project, how you can get involved with The Team, and apply for year 2 of the Engaged Athlete Fellowship at https://lnkd.in/gV9rY-HT
