❌ 3 innovation project fuck-ups and how to avoid them (1/3) As the year comes to a close, and the entire LinkedIn community reflects on it by sharing achievements, I'd prefer to share some of my #learnings from this year, which might be relevant for you as well. Speaking about innovation projects generally, whether corporate innovation or venturing, innovation consulting or #incubation and venture development, I noticed there are some general traps. While tapping into them certainly rewards with learnings, not tapping into them can save you crucial time and energy. So, these learnings go out to everyone who wants to save some time and energy when wrapping their heads around innovation projects and aiming to keep up the pace while increasing chances of success. I will skip the basics and common "how-tos" and jump right into some peculiarities: 1️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗰𝗸-𝘂𝗽: Identifying key stakeholders is crucial and basic homework when it comes to project management. Since innovation projects always face some kind of risk toward a hard or soft stop when decision-makers lose interest or overview, they are (and stay) of particular interest. Keeping them in the loop, building relationships through some face-time to create trust can prove crucial. ➡ So, don’t be too busy solely diving deep down into the matter. Get your head out of the water from time to time and get relevant #stakeholders interested in what you are discovering down there. Get visible. With some spark, excitement but also honesty in terms of timelines and open challenges. ➡ Don’t let decision-makers forget about you below the surface. They also like to feel needed and involved. Approach them with a request for advice, sparring, or feedback. Also, this creates trust and a relationship. Those might turn out to be more crucial than expected. For me personally this year, this point proved to be relevant and thus caused some significant aha-moments for my learning and development. Since I guess this is more than actually of interest or digestible three days before Christmas: this is it. Stay tuned for my learning 2 and 3 🔮 However, I would be curious about your learnings, too! Other than that, also from my side: happy Christmas, and happy disconnecting from everyday business hustles and bustles.

Verbal and non-verbal communication are essential in personal relationships, professional settings, and academic environments. One of the hardest testing grounds is pitching in front of #venturecapitalists and those who may want to fund your brand-new #StartUp, which was created around a good, viable idea. The Innovator Fellowship Programme has been developing this training for 5 years, and today is glad to provide Talents with a 3-day session led by professionals with theatre performance experiences.: On November 25th, DAY 1️⃣ , Innovators learned how to use their voices, postures and gestures, to communicate at best. It was a learn-by-doing day, having fun, both in collective settings and in personalized rooms. Also, they’ve been each other’s mentors, mirroring and providing feedback within their own teams. What to expect on day 2 and 3? DAY 2️⃣ As they feel comfortable while “staying in the spotlight”, on day two they will be trained towards a specific performance: #PITCHING. Will you be able to convey its potential, and answer very targeted questions about competitors, consumers, current state of-the-art of the market, opportunities, technical solutions, stakeholders, and your strategy along the next years to make your product or service a success?
