As we predicted already a couple of years ago, business travel / meetings & events / workplace structure are merging closer and closer. I remember discussing Desana with the likes of Amon, Louise, Caroline and Andy among others. Guys, I’ve obviously been out of the industry somewhat for the past year or so. Would be interesting to know your thoughts on this development of on-demand work space moving into events space, much like we already have seen the likes of hubli going from meeting and event space towards on-demand work space. A coming together of these two key pillars for organisations around the world, where they seek to establish the best solution for their clients? Could this be the driver for more partnerships and mergers/acquisitions in 2024?

➡️ Why we travel between offices The MARMIND team is based in two different locations in Austria: Vienna and Graz. Every few weeks, my Co-CEO Gerhard Kragl and I take a trip down south to work a couple of days from our Graz office. With both of us being on very busy schedules, it’s not always easy to find the time. Plus, we spend most of our day on calls anyway. So why make the effort? Because we both believe that virtual meetings cannot completely replace face-to-face interactions in the real world. Grabbing a quick bite to eat at lunchtime. Having a chat by the coffee machine. Popping by a new team member’s desk to say hi. Ordering in pizza for everyone (one of our favorites 😉) A couple of minutes can sometimes be enough to realize that someone is going through something. That there is conflict. That someone needs to talk. All the subtle nuances that would get lost in an online call. So, sorry Graz team, but we’ll continue to show up every month. 😆😆 #teammarmind

Marketing is both an art and a science, involving a blend of creativity and analytical precision. When Betterworks was presented with the opportunity to participate in a never-before HRTech-hosted event in Europe, the decision wasn't straightforward. My CRO, Shep Maher, and I discussed it at length but ultimately chose to invest, a decision we never regretted. Here's why: We understood we couldn't predict every outcome, but we had complete faith in our team's ability to adapt and excel. Spearheaded by Sarah Kamp, with Jamie A. expertly managing all design components, our booth was the most impressive yet. The event was packed with activities, including a generative AI technology talk where Bruce Walcroft and I discussed our latest insights from the State of Performance Report. In addition, social events like a pub crawl allowed for informal networking and team bonding. Our sales team’s proactive approach led to a record number of pre-booked meetings, ensuring constant engagement at Bruce’s demo station. Thank you, Amy Culverhouse, Katie Murphy, Hassan Kabir, and Dustin Clinard, for such great effort! Moreover, Doug Dennerline's and Jamie Aitken's Make Work Better book continued to spark interest and drive discussions throughout the event. The success of an event isn't due to any single factor; it's about a team's commitment to excellence and the collective expertise each member brings to every aspect of the process. The result? It is a rewarding experience that's as enjoyable to execute as it is to witness. What are mid-market companies doing for 'retreats' nowadays? If your company is remote-first (or even hybrid), you know how important face-to-face time is to build relationships and strengthen your culture. But as you reach a certain number of employees (let's say 250+), the effort and financial impact adds up - making the choice of getting everyone at your company physically together waaaay more difficult. So, what are you doing instead? Regional gatherings? Drawing a line on attendees (directors+?) Letting teams plan their own smaller events and ditching the idea of an All Company thing? Nothing?
