Back in Copenhagen 🇩🇰 (or Lyngby to be precise) for a fascinating discussion yesterday at the DTU Learn for Life Sustainable Leadership Masterclass on the #sustainability “problem” facing the world and possible solutions, ranging from “individual carbon credits” and “individual carbon budget”(Prof. karyn Morrissey) to “degrowth.” Sustainability is of course a multifaceted topic but if you had to come up with one immediate solution or action, what would it be? 🤔🤓💡 For me, a great place to start is with defining the operative terms, reaching a consensus on what the “problem” is, raising awareness on the issues, and taking individual accountability. 🌳🌍♻️💚 #peopleandplanet #noplanetb #doyourpart #sustainability #GlobalGoals

For the Value Chain Platform actively engaged members: Leadership, much like tending to a new crop, is never easy. Right now, you are sowing seeds at the very beginning of the process, and it’s difficult to envision the full harvest. And this is where real leadership matters most—at the roots, far from the spotlight. There won’t be applause for watering the fields, or recognition for removing the weeds, but it is this patient cultivation of the fundamentals that leads to a fruitful harvest. A fascinating and at times frightening morning with IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising) and their excellent Business Growth conference. Hearing Faisal Islam’s insight on geopolitical impact on economics. Seeing how agencies are using AI in practice and seeing two alternative AI driven near futures spelt out, one utopian, the other seemingly disastrous (two poles so far apart and with such potential implications that it surely shouldn’t be left to chance?!) Hearing how an agency moved up the value chain with focused business model transformation while keeping its lights on. Insights into how best to welcome Gen Z into the workplace. And last but not least understanding the increasing risks of the industry failing to seize opportunities to help clients participate/ pioneer in the fight against climate change…”action before advertising”. A really inspiring event, highlighting some of the many challenges agency leaders are having to grapple with, brilliantly put together by Joyce Kelso showcasing so much of the value that the IPA facilitates for its members.🙏

Embedding Sustainability: A Unified Approach to Achieving SDG Goals Dr V Kovaichelvan, with over 40 years of leadership experience, emphasizes that sustainability should not be treated as a separate endeavour. Instead, it should be seamlessly integrated into both our personal and professional lives. By embedding sustainability into processes and metrics, we can achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) effortlessly. The key to doing less and accomplishing more lies in fostering system thinking, collective action, and alignment within our organizations.
